Hi All,

We have a number of APC Smart UPS 5000 (SUA5000RMI5U) in our server room.

One of them has started to report that a battery need replacing but it isn't telling us which one. We've got a replacement ready to go but there are four batteries in the unit.

Do we have to manually test the batteries with a battery tester to see which one has failed, or are we overlooking a log somewhere that identifies the location of the failed battery?

Thanks.

If the batteries are all the same age I'd be inclined to change them all at once rather than running old and new batteries in the same unit.

I have three of those UPSs but I can't see individual battery statuses in any of the web pages so you may be down to testing them yourselves.

The APC software works on up-time, so testing the batteries will reveal nothing, best to check manufacturer dates on the batteries to see which is the oldest, that should be a good indication of which one is reporting the message. Edited by GuyJD
