Help needed from people with Long Hair

Hi all

 

Apparently my OH dropped many hints before Christmas that she wanted one of those heated brushes which straighten as well as brush - but I'm a bloke and hints don't work (she's been married twice - you'd think she would know this stuff!)

 

I know nothing about them - I last combed/brushed my hair sometime last century (people who have seen me will understand)

does anyone have any recommendations of one that works - her birthday is a couple of months away but I better do something or I'll be in next doors' dog house

Well, I know what a brush is, o'course, but I very very rarely use any kind of heat on my hair. Makes it too fragile. I towel-dampish-dry it then let it naturally dry for the rest of it.

Only use a hair dryer if I know I'm going to be photographed (looks nicer and has a bit more volume), or if I'm going out on a night out (cause I'm in too much of a rush to let it dry naturally).

I bought some for my partner and they didn't really do much. They did kind of make it straighter but nothing like real straighteners.

You could do what I do sometimes - get them to buy what they want then give it to you to wrap up and then present to them on the big day . Then everyone's happy

Here I am with my super unhelpful opinion that they're probably gonna be rubbish and she quits using them after a couple of months. GHDs would probably be better....

 

But, I guess if she's anything like me and has her heart set on a certain thing...

 

It kinda ruins the surprise a bit, but could you ask which set she wants?

It's a fair point, though.. I mean, she's dropping so many hints, it's fairly obvious that she wants you to get them, you know she wants you to get them, and she knows you know that you're probably going to get them.

So it's not exactly a surprise.. Might as well ask if there's any brand she'd prefer.

She has GHDs - but wants something quicker for when she just needs to fix it (or something - I dunno)

I had a set many years ago, they were rubbish for me. My hair was too thick. Normal straighteners all the way.

Aren't Cloud Nine straighteners meant to be better than GHDs these days? I can't remember where I saw it now, but an article I read mentioned that GHD had to change the design of their straighteners after the GHD founder left to start Cloud Nine? Now they're not as good as they used to be?

I'm not sure... my partner has GHD everything and I have to admit they seem very well made and her hair takes a lot less time now!

 

The plates on some special edition straighteners got scratched and GHD replaced them under warranty in under a week with no hassle, so thumbs up from me!
