Norphy Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 This sounds promising: Bernie Ecclestone: F1 chief executive 'forced out' of role, says report http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/38723001
sonofsanta Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 This sounds promising: Bernie Ecclestone: F1 chief executive 'forced out' of role, says report Bernie Ecclestone removed as Liberty Media completes $8bn takeover - BBC Sport Looks like Ross Brawn is in charge of the sporting side of things as well: Liberty completes F1 takeover, Ecclestone replaced | Reuters Colour me optimistic bit fed up of Bernie letting historic tracks get priced out of the game and taking the short term money from pay TV at the expense of fans, all the while letting small teams struggle financially. F1 is not in healthy shape right now.
MartinT Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 That sounds like a double win. Brawn will ensure that the racing comes first.
mikkydoos Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 (edited) Brawn = Good Bernie = Bad. Super news. Pity they won't probably won't be able to change anything until about 2050 They host 3 grand prix in the US soon I bet. Edited January 24, 2017 by mikkydoos
simonw Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Not quite 'bye-bye Bernie' as he keeps an 'advisory' role, sadly.
Boredguy Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Roll on 2020 when all bar Renaults agreements are due to expire
john Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 I for one am looking forward to having Ross Brawn back in the paddock, he is highly respected and well liked amongst the teams (even when he was whopping the ass's of them in the Ferrari days with MSC) so having him involved will do good for everyone I feel I also hope with the new structure that we can get a renegotiated Silverstone GP that isn't likely to kill the track totally as well as sorting out some of the other ones that have gone due to Bernie's total greed-fest
CAM Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 RIP Manor Racing, they have folded. Press F1 to pay respects....
6Foot2 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 RIP Manor Racing, they have folded. Press F1 to pay respects.... Help?
sonofsanta Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 RIP Manor Racing, they have folded. Press F1 to pay respects.... Felipe Nasr really did drive himself out of a seat then, didn't he?
Patrick Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Damn. None of the new teams introduced in 2010 manged to survive. Sad times.
tg12 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Damn. None of the new teams introduced in 2010 manged to survive. Sad times. Unsurprising really, they signed up in 2009 under the promise that there'd be a budget cap in place. Instead they had to quickly change their plans to catch up. In some way, it's a miracle we got 7 seasons before they all disappeared.
mikeprice Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Yeah - they must have been a bit 'annoyed' about the removal of that cap apparently F1/FIA are being referred to the european something or other for unfair competition due to the 'unique' way the prize money is shared out

mikeprice Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Vote for a future location for racing VOTE: London? New York? Las Vegas? Pick your dream new F1 GP! | F1 News Interesting - but can't see any of the FormulaE circuits being any use for F1 - they would need to start from scatch personally I would love to see one in Widnes - it couldn't cause any more blockages and chaos than building the new bridge has
timbo343 Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 http://m.crash.net/f1/news/240184/1/mclaren-confirms-bp-castrol-collaboration.html Could McLaren have a green/white/red livery this year now they have the BP castrol collaboration?
Norphy Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Like this? As I recall, the car was pretty useless but the livery was one I remember liking

As I recall, the car was pretty useless but the livery was one I remember liking That was the lotus, no wondef it wasnt a very good car. Someone may have already designed something back in october 16... http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23710&start=2745 Or... do a google image search for castrol edge sponsorship and there's a pic of an indy car with the castrol edge sponsorship which is all black with gold edge lettering and white air intake. Maybe we will see something like this? Edited February 11, 2017 by timbo343
Norphy Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 That was the lotus, no wondef it wasnt a very good car. I know, it was just the most recent F1 car that I could think of that had a Castrol livery
