It will be interesting to see how Hamilton works with his team mate, considering the way he's been with fellow drivers in the past.

 

Dunno, he got along really well with Kovaleinen and Button, both consider themselves friends. Despite 2007, both Hamilton and Alonso have a hell of a lot of respect for eachother. Alonso knows he shouldn't have underestimated Hamilton and Hamilton knows he had a lot of growing up to do. Rosberg and Hamilton will always have respect for eachother as difficult as it may seem.

All teammates have had their ups and downs, although any problems are easily exasperated when both are allowed to fight/race properly. Clear cut #1 and #2 setups appear to have enjoyed the best relationships (Schumacher & Massa/Barrichello for example) but as soon as both are in contention things will always get messy. Or if both have a strong head. (Schumacher & Irvine :D )

 

But yes, I can't see any issues between Bottas and Hamilton. Very interesting to see what Bottas is like in the Merc, he's always been rated quite highly and it'll be his chance to prove his mettle.

The Monaco Grand Prix will be broadcast live on free-to-air television in the UK for the first time in five years as Channel 4 revealed its programme details for the new season.The terrestrial broadcaster will again show 10 live Formula One races as part of its co-broadcasting deal with Sky Sports, including the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on 16 July. How does sliverstone struggle to make profits when they charge so much for attending? Ive been to a motogp race there and the ticket prices for that are about half the price of what a F1 race day ticket is. Surely they should be looking at increasing the other event prices before ditching the F1.

Because greedy Bernie demands a fortune for hosting the GP and many of the European circuits find it difficult even to break even. Look at France, already gone, and Germany who are struggling.

Not a chance in hell without a *lot* of investment. Silverstone is the only Grade 1 racing track in the country. Remember when Donington got the contract for F1 and near enough bankrupted themselves trying to bring the place up to standard? Same would happen with Brands I'm sure.

 

Shame really because it is an exciting circuit.

 

Plus Bernie hates Silverstone and the BDRC, I think he'd be delighted to take Silverstone off the calendar once and for all. Hopefully, now that someone else owns the F1 rights, they'll manage to oust the poisonous little :censored:

It's a Bernie thing. To be fair, the price of GA tickets for Silverstone on race days isn't bad value for money all things considering but it would never hurt to try and make it more accessible. It's funny that despite the high prices, Silverstone gets the highest attendance out of any race on the circuit and certainly has the best vibe/atmosphere out of all of them. Not even the Tifosi are a patch on our fans.

Silverstone is easily the best track overall in the UK, even though I do have some bias towards it. This is nothing new, Bernie will have a whinge, charge stupid amounts for races and wonders why circuits that should absolutely not ever be under threat end up in trouble. Monzas, Imolas, Spas, Silverstones. Frankly Bernie needs to be gotten rid of ASAP and someone with balls to come in. Bernie has balls, but they're full of money. We need someone with the sort of balls that can do F1 some good and get rid of circuits that don't matter. Monaco.

Y. Monaco is utterly pointless. They should just do qualifying and leave it there.

 

Russia is super dull

 

Abu Dhabi is super dull

 

Azerbaijan is dull

 

Australia is dull (apart from its the first race i'll let them off)

 

Imola was great

 

Paul Ricard was great

 

 

They want more tracks like Brasil. THATS a proper race track

I actually think this is a PR stunt and a way the silverstone team are trying to send a message to the new owners of F1. Get them round the table, get them chatting about a deal that will allow them to make some decent money rather than it going all to bernie!

 

I dont think it will go, bernie will go before silverstone but having seen what the new owners have done with other sports, looking forward to a better F1 an Silverstone Grand prix

Maybe. I see Donnington say theres no way they'll host the British GP.

 

TBH, I cant imaging there not being a BGP at silverstone, all the teams except a couple are based there and along with Monza is probably the most sacred on the calendar.

 

What ever happened to the GP track they were going to build in Wales? Is it going ahead. Looks like a good track proposal.

Silverstone is the only UK Track with a grade 1 license from the FIA. If it isn't Silverstone, any other circuit will end up spending some big £££ to get the track to Grade 1 status. Which I can't see happening.

If they want to activate the break clause for 2019, they have to tell FOM later this year, but they are still contracted for 2017 and 2018.

It's more a tactic to try and get the price adjusted once the new owners are in the same as lots of the other tracks

Thats good news - let's hope they can get things up and running (driving???) quickly and produce a competitive car soon
