southhamster Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 "Ok shall we schedule a meeting? I'll just get my Filofax."
Oaktech Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 "Ok shall we schedule a meeting? I'll just get my Filofax." My wife still runs a filofax. Threatens to divorce me every year unless her 'santa presents' contains the next years calendar inserts and a fresh note pad! 1
6Foot2 Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 "That teacher isn't demanding at all!" [This after just having returned from a room where we have reorganised the layout of the PC on the desk for the FORTH time!]
teddybear Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 A deputy head teacher asked me for a mouse with a ball. I asked why she needed one of them, said I didn't think we've had any for a while. Turns out she got a 'One Direction' mouse mat with white areas, so the mouse she has doesn't work properly.

Real solution: Keep the mouse, junk the junk. 1
mavhc Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Or buy a newer optical mouse, do optical mice have specs so you can see which one is better?

TRC_MA Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Paraphrasing: Dr. Emmett Brown: "It works! It works! finally invent something that works!" 1
unixman_again Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 I'll see your X.25 and raise you SNA. I used to support a credit card authorisation system. The transactions would come from the merchants via X.25, be passed to the IBM campus in Warwick via SNA, come back on SNA and be posted to the merchant on X.25. I asked an IBM engineer what would happen if the IBM campus (that's where all the UK bank clearing houses lived) was down. The transaction would go back to the merchant as authorised and the bank would sort it out later. The merchant didn't want to miss out on the sale and surprisingly few transactions were unauthorised. 1

JRA Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 "I gotta fill this nappy in time for Rainbow." ^ Haven't thought that one in about 34 years. 1
Eek Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 I quit the internet as a social thing 15 years ago back when that was MSN messenger and forums, after all this time resisting I finally joined Facebook. So, "wow this is what the internet looks like to real people".
Garacesh Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 20 Marlboro reds please. You'll have red-white-and-blue Americans and you'll like it, commie! (But srsly, quitting smoking is awesome.)
6Foot2 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 ...But srsly, quitting smoking is awesome. Indeed. Good luck with that (another 'quitter')
TRC_MA Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I gave up smoking about 15 years ago too. A few years back I was in a pub for new year with a couple of friends, and at midnight put two hamlet cigars in my mouth and lit them up and was going to pass one to each. They both start crying out at me "noooo you can't!!". It takes me a moment before I realise they're concerned not for my health but getting kicked out for smoking indoors.. I hadn't thought about that one for a while! 1

Eek Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Just had to tell a friend that Microsoft bought Skype some time ago so "no, MSN Messenger isn't a thing anymore". Also haven't thought for some time that I am young enough to stay up chatting to American and Canadian friends on MSN/AIM/YIM until 4am and still get up for work the next (same) morning.
