Fujitsu - Opinions?

Hi all,

 

We are looking at a possible change of manufacture as we are losing faith with Dell at the moment. We have been looking at the Fujitsu equipment and these seem to fit the bill in terms of spec and what looks to be reasonable build quality.

Is there anyone on here who run Fujitsu equipment who can give me some thoughts and opinions on them? For example:

 

• Is there a best/preferred supplier?
  
• Can we source directly from Fujitsu?
  
• Can we have contact details (email/web/phone/etc) for the above?
  
• What is the build quality like?
  
• What is the hardware support/warranty like?
  
• How easy can you get hold of out of warranty parts and help?
  
• Any other thoughts?

All my servers are Fujitsu, as were the last lot before I upgraded, I can't fault them at all - fantastic kit... I've got some great contacts there and with one of their value-added resellers too as they don't sell directly...

I have a lot of Fujitsu laptops and I have been impressed with the build quality and ease of use. I would happily buy more. On the very odd occasion I have had to ring re a fault - support was quick and easy.

My previous school had Fujitsu desktops in the IT suite and again, no issues with them at all.

Thanks Rich I was with you at the National Museum of Computing trip and it was then that got me thinking of Fujitsu. Do you have any thoughts on the bullet points in my original post.

Yes, for the time being we were just thinking client machines (Laptop/Desktop/Tablet).

So I guess I need to expand this thread to Fujitsu/Lenovo - Opinions?

Any details and contact details appreciated.

I have around 100 Fujitsu laptops, Overall I'd say the build quality is pretty good not had any major hardware failures in the 3 years I've had them, I have had small issues with trackpads becoming unresponsive and only working again after a reboot and I had a complete nightmare with wireless connectivity on Windows 7 but since switching them over to 10 that issues seems to have gone.

  I've always used Virtue Technologies as they do a lot with Fujitsu (and it's Virtue that give us the places on the Fujitsu Forum trip to Munich)

• What is the build quality like?
  I can't fault it - all the new PCs we've bought recently have been the USFF Fujitsu PCs, and love them, not had any issues with them so far.
  
• What is the hardware support/warranty like?
  Seems good, we've had standard 5 year warranties on the server kit, and 3 year on the PCs / Laptops.
  
• How easy can you get hold of out of warranty parts and help?
  Don't think I've needed to try tbh...
  
• Any other thoughts?
  Certainly my first choice when looking for PCs / laptops, and will be my first choice when looking to replace the servers in the future.

the desktops seem good normally and the recent laptops have been fine and id take them over asus nowadays but in the past we have had some awful cheap and nasty feeling laptops from them

I was told it was when they separated out from Siemens again the build quality got better and that does seem to be the case

recently they have been fine we stopped supplying them a few years ago because they were nasty

My friends in the NHS and the LA have gone fujitsu for a lot of things. They purchase directly from Fujitsu Public Sector team.

 

The build quality certainly for servers and desktop pcs is excellent. The in warranty service is 4 hour for servers and NBD for desktops. I don't think they have any out of warranty yet.

We buy Fujitsu through distribution. And have supplied to plenty of schools.

 

I really like the build quality - while all manufacturers have cut corners as they've cut costs i much prefer the Fujitsu over Toshiba which we used a lot before. Also over Lenovo these days too.

 

Support has always been okay when I've needed it - although that's rare tbh.

 

Also very easy to upgrade the had and ram. On a recent Lenovo I had to strip down half the laptop to add an ssd!

From what I've used over the years cannot fault, quality is one of its selling points for me and only the other day I recommended one of their devices to someone looking.

 

The old P4 2.8 stuff we had was solid as a rock and at the time lasted longer than the Dell stuff (looking 10 years ago now).

We've always had Fujitsu laptops for the last 10 years, no major problems apart from the normal, kids picking off keys, smashed screens , batteries needing replacing. Had an odd few which refused to power on but were under warranty within the 3 years, some still going strong now from 2009.

 

As for servers, always had HP, still got some Ml350 G5s in service and out of warranty , with HDDs getting on for 7 years old and reporting no errors.

inherited a Dell server which has had excessive drive failures, and first year of my job we had some Dell laptops which were a disaster as even Dell's own engineers couldn't get them to connect to our wireless back then, and blamed one of their network cards that's wasn't compatible so we had to be sent some different ones to test with and pay the cost to replace all!
