Michael Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 You buy into a volume license agreement for Office, as you would Windows. The PDF converter is built into Office itself - File > Save as, change it down to PDF from DOCX.

m25man Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Open the PDF document through the File Manager within Word 2013/16 and it prompts you that it will convert the PDF into an editable Word Ducument. BE PATIENT, this conversion can take some time and a lot of CPU cycles. If your lucky, and there's not too many tables or fancy formatting you end up with a fairly reasonable copy of the PDF in a docx format, that you can edit and then save as a .pdf again! However, if the PDF has complex tables inserted graphics or objects the OCR conversion that Word does can often produce a document that's severely mangled and takes as much time to reformat as it would to type from scratch! Editing the PDF directly is a tricky task and to do it easily requires the right tools. Obviously Adobes own DC is the way to go but stupidly expensive even on Edu pricing. I use the Foxit Software Phantom PDF Editor myself and for what it cost me I really can't complain. They have a Volume license program and a free trial. Worth checking it out.

Michael Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 If you right click any PDF in Explorer, select 'Open with' > Word 2016, you'll be prompted to convert. Depending on how it's compiled and how big it is, it can take minutes to open/process.

Mistert89 Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 We have Nuance PaperPort bundled with our a Brother MFDs. Copy your PDF into its folder and then OCR it. Works most times, unless complex formatting.
speckytecky Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 If you have a licensed Adobe Suite you will have Acrobat built in that and opening a PDF with Acrobat gives the option of saving it as a Word document. An add thougt a few hits on the Thank You button to those who have responded would be appreciated.
angrycomputingteacher Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 We use Word 2016 for converting PDF's to Document files for editing. Although, sometimes it converts all the text into one great big image.
