tl82 Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Hi, Does anyone know of a program that does what AirServer does but reversed. We have a pupil with really bad sight problems that requires the teachers laptop to be mirrored to her iPad. VNC will not work as when she will be zooming into the different areas of the iPad screen, she may accidentally click something on the screen of the iPad and could accidentally close documents/programs on the teachers laptop.
robk Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Not tested this but does vnc have a read only mode? Seem to remember one but it is a long time ago.
lmgtfy Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Have used http://www.join.me in the past for a pupil with VI needs. It seemed to work well for their needs.
jtotheb Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Would TeamViewer in presentation mode do what you want?
3s-gtech Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 With the VNC hosts that I used to install, you set two passcodes - one for view only and one for full control. That should work for you.
ITJS2015 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Team viewer on presentation mode will do the trick, vnc is a remote tool so he can control what ever is being presented and could get messy. At least with team viewer he can just zoom in and he cannot control the screen
3s-gtech Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 vnc is a remote tool so he can control what ever is being presented and could get messy See my post above. It doesn't do that if you give them the view password only.
ITJS2015 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I haven't used it for a while buddy so I was just assuming that since it had been 7 years ago when I last used it, but thank you for pointing out
tl82 Posted October 6, 2016 Author Posted October 6, 2016 Thanks for the advice. I will give team viewer a try sometime next week. Fingers crossed!
Matt_NetSupport Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Hi Tl82, NetSupport School would also work (and perhaps more teacher friendly) PM me as happy to help out in cases like this. Matt Jones, NetSupport Software
ChrisH Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) We use VNC running in application mode on the teachers PC and the VI pupils connect as view only, it works absolutely fine. The only thing the teachers have to remember is to turn it off and on and that freezing the projector does not stop them seeing what's on their screen! Edited October 7, 2016 by ChrisH
