I’ve had half a dozen ADVA’s installed in work sites over the past few months. Access Port 3 is the one you would connect to your router. You have to leave their sfp in place until that port goes green, then you can replace with your own sfp. Hi, Does anyone know of any software that can check if the usb keyboard you just plugged into a laptop works okay? We are pulling 50+ keyboards out of storage in the coming months to go into refurbished rooms. They’ve been there for many years and there is the chance that some faulty piles got mixed up with the working ones. Is there some sort of checker software that can bring up a message saying if the keyboard is good or bad, when you plug it in? I can imagine there may be a few on-site visits required to swap out faulty ones, which is something that we would like to avoid, as we’ve got enough things to do as it is.

Had this same issue with a visually impaired child as well a few years ago. Ended up buying a licence for net support tutor for each of their teachers and 1 pupil licence. It’s the same software used by teachers in the big ICT suites to control the class. The teacher broadcasts their name then the student uses the pupil app on the iPad to join their class. The teachers screen is mirrored to the iPad and the pupil can zoom in on their iPad without it affecting the teachers screen.

Do the office machines have the latest copy of the BOS folder copied onto their hard drive? I found a lot of errors we had with entrysign when we first got it was due to different versions of the BOS folder. In the end, we now have a 'golden copy' of it on one of the servers that gets copied over first if there's any problems, before ringing ES support.

I'm having an issue with a HP 250 G6 Laptop. The laptop has been in use for just over a year. Over the past year, the screen is suddenly extremely dim upon startup. It's so dark I can barely make out the bitlocker text box. Each time it goes off, after a few hard resets it comes back on as normal and this seemed to fix it and it doesn't have any problems for another few months. Last week however, it went again and no amount of resets fixes it. The laptop also doesn't power on using the mains when the battery is removed. I've just put a new screen into it but that new screen is dim as well. I can plug in a vga once I'm past the bitlocker screen and the screen shows up as normal on the external monitor. It's just the built-in display that doesn't work. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? I'm at a loss as to what the cause is.

Same here- nobody wants the very old boards. Instead, the caretaker attaches the old smartboards to the railings on the playground and covers them in blackboard paint. The children use them to play with at lunch and the teachers can still use them during class time.

I've bought a few HP 250 replacement screens from screens.uk. Never had a fault with them, apart from always having to get a glossy one as the matte version was sold out.

Can anyone tell me what they think of the Blue Hills SEN provision mapping software? I’ve seen the SIMS offering and edukey’s. I just want to know if it’s worth going through the process of getting a free trial and then trying to gather all the SMT together to arrange a demo. There’s very little screenshots, etc to find online to give me an idea if this is any good.

I used to have this problem as well (before we got rid of our franking machine). Even had an on-site visit by a PB tech. In the end, I just installed the software on a laptop as a local admin, and then once a month plug the laptop in and update the machine. I never bothered with the wi-fi module as couldn't get it to see out network.

Does anyone know what could be behind this? The teacher can draw fine using the laptop mouse so its definitely not the laptop causing the 'dead zone' on this board. I've got the whole school kitted out with various model IFP's and I've never seen this in all my years of using them.

I also bought several wi-fi dongles for some BenQ boards last year. They turned out to be D-Link ones and that the BenQ boards needed a specific chipset on the dongles for them to be seen by the board. Of the 4 I bought from Amazon, I had to return 3 of them as they did not have the C1 chipset that BenQ support said was needed by that model of board.

I had the exact same request several years ago. NetSupport Tutor worked great for the child. The teacher just needed to open the program in the morning and make sure that they knew the class/tutor name to type in the iPad to connect and view the board on the child's tablet. The child could happily and easily zoom in on the iPad.

I had to add myschool.mosyle.com to the allowed URL & keyword lists. It worked perfectly after that.

Mosyle is very good. I couldn't work without it now and even better was that most of it is free!!!. It's only the bulk commands and the like, that you have to pay for.

Hi, At the moment, my school uses an online service to send text messages out to parents, that they are charged for every sms sent out. Parents who have queries regarding the messages then phone the school office. We also have an app linked to our website that sends out push messages/alerts to everybody who has a copy of the app on their phones. The contract for out SMS service is due for renewal and the school is looking at what options are best for the future, cost & practicality in the forefront, especially with GDPR looming. I know that Capita does a messaging app and our current sms company also do their own version of a messaging app. Does anyone have any advice on what path the school could go down? We are a 4/5 form intake infants school and send out a lot of messages. Thanks
