M1 down to a crawl for 3 miles, why, because of an accident that was on hard shoulder.

 

All it needs is blue flashing lights these days and people need to slow down and take a more than one look.

 

Is this jus ignorance, boredom or a need to see what's going on in other peoples life.

 

The knock on effect of a few people slowing down to have a look on a motorway does not take long to cause a stop/start scenario and possible danger of further accidents.

 

And do not get me started on lanehoggers, if the inside lane is empty and you are not passing a junction PULL OVER. Lane 2 and 3 are overtaking lanes, if you are not overtaking then you should not be in them. Fair enough if you move over to let some one in from a slip road.

Like schadenfreude but, hopefully, without actually taking pleasure in that misfortune just curious about it. Either way, it is unnecessary and as you say potentially dangerous.

Or orange ones. I've seen on several occasions a simple breakdown truck or tax check vehicle in a layby or on the hard shoulder cause everyone to slow down unnecessarily.

People become transfixed by blue lights - I am a Special in Sussex and I have nearly been hit by motorists on several occasions at RTC's simply because they were looking at the incident and not the road ahead. As for middle lane drivers - well don't get me started on them!

Whenever I try that nothing happens - simply because they are completely oblivious to all around them!

 

Sometimes it can have an effect by what car you drive and how you drive, I nearly always get motorcyclists slowing down to make sure I'm not a copper, less so car drivers unless I want to play

There was a bloke in Adelaide who had an ex-police bike with "Polite" written on the fairing. He got plenty of room on the road.

 

You are correct about what car or bike your on. When I was on my green and yellow step-through, I was given no room. If I was on the blue Ducati, lots of room. If I was on the Yammy SR500, with the worlds loudest exhaust, cars would pull over. If I was on the sidecar, the cars would almost park up.

When I was working on a Farm in Canada the farmer had an old Datsun that he had welded a large piece of angle iron to instead of a bumper cos he was fed up with getting tail ended by idiots - seemed to keep people back as well

My Blue Octy vRS doesn't always get response. Last night I had a van right up my backside in a 20MPH past a school. Thinking about getting a few reflectors for the back window.

We have duckers and divers on the M40 on the way to work. The M25 feeder lanes are the inside 2, with the outside 2 left to continue onwards to the A40. Many impatient drivers sit in lane 3 and then duck in at the last minute to save sitting in the queuing traffic.

Had one just this afternoon driving home. Decides that, because I have an unusual car, it's OK for the passenger to lean out of the window, filming me on his phone, shouting "oi mate" at me while he matches my speed and doesn't actually overtake - obviously ignoring him wasn't working.

 

This gets more frustrating because I actually want to overtake the van I'm stuck behind and the cars stacking up behind him in the fast lane are getting annoyed too - this went on for about a minute! Only solution was to slow down so he finally gets past me.

Nice looking car and no wonder you get a few looks, is it based on a Mini because might have noticed minilites wheels???

 

My friend had a few tuned up old Mini's some were real sleepers but they could certainly move. Someone else I knew put the MG Metro turbo in his and that shifted a bit too :-) .

It's based on a Mini, they're Compomotives not Minilites though Don't mind people looking, but holding up traffic because you feel the need to photograph it is a bit over the top.

 

Doesn't move that fast as it's a standard 998 engine, but keeps me going (when it's not waiting fr repair in the local garage...)
