Grey-gear Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Got this yesterday on a whim, and I have been quite happy with it so far. I have travelled to 4 systems so far and even got a new multi tool that looks like a rifle, just need to figure out how to get a new ship then I will have more space on it. Has any one else played this yet?
DMcGuigan Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 We don't get it on PC until Friday Looking forward to it though, not on the hype train like many, fully expecting it to just be a relaxing "Go here, explore, go somewhere else" type deal. Base building and capital ships in the next update, that should be quite interesting.
DJ-1701 Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 got a new multi tool that looks like a rifle... Pfft, you call that a multitool?... This is a multitool! I believe @X-13 was considering this game. Sounds interesting, so I will sit back and hear comments before purchasing, or watch a stream.
Theblacksheep Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Had it since Saturday and played 6-10 hours before deleting and restarting after the 1.03 patch. Spend my second game and about 10 hours just staying on the starter planet just learning the language and opening new areas. So big it hurts, but as @DMcGuigan says very much a relax, collect stuff here, collect stuff there and make your journey through space. I like it, but it wont be for everyone (to be fair, no game is). New ships can be purchased on planets, if you don't land on a bases' landing areas alien ships can land and you can buy them. Space stations have many ships passing. Start saving though, if you want to jump up in 5 slots it'll cost you 1m. Before you buy, transfer the stuff out of your ship. localzuk Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Not played it myself yet, but have seen a few Twitch streams. Looks like a good game so far. I can also see it being a great framework to grow into bigger things in the future. Imagine if they threw in some Eve like game mechanics, basic base building (not like Space Engineers, more like Eve POS but on a planet), and VR. It'd be the ultimate game for me. But I'll be happy with it as it is come Friday when it downloads on my PC! Not that I'll be playing it much as I've got so much programming to do!!
siuko Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Bought it on Steam for PC Can't wait for Friday release I've watched a few PS4 streams and it has got me really excited about playing but I'm trying to not watch to much so it doesn't spoil the surprises Have read quite a few negative comments but that's probably just from people who only like Full Loot PvP games
DalekSec Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Personaly waiting for reviews to come out before i buy, currently got 2 games on the go along with other things! If it gets raving reviews i'll more than likely get it.

It'd be the ultimate game for me. Sean did mention base building and super carrier ships is planned for an update. When?? probably best to see if the server hold out over the next few days first!
localzuk Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Have read quite a few negative comments but that's probably just from people who only like Full Loot PvP games Yeah, same. People were thinking the game was something it was never advertised to be. Its an exploration, trade and collecting game. With extra stuff on the side. I figure, I like Elite Dangerous, I'll like this!
Lonix Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Pre-ordered for PC a while ago, so playing the ultimate waiting game....using the ultimate ability - patience. Not watched any twitch feeds and only seen the original videos/trailers of it. Read a few bits n pieces and sounds quite promising. A game I can relax and enjoy.
sister_annex Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Started it last night on PS4... enjoying it so far - it's not as fast paced as some of the FPS games about but should keep me interested for some time... not sure how long it is going to be before it gets a bit repetitive though? yes, there are literally billions of systems and even more planets that have diverse and varied life, but if you're doing the same thing to catalog and analyse on each one it will become boring very quick. all in all i like it. i have only played about 3 hours though
siuko Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 There are 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 worlds lol! Obviously at Least one needs to be Edugeek World? Eduworld?
flyinghaggis Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) The initial user reviews on Metacritic are pretty mixed and it's averaging 5.0 at the moment which is putting me off slightly but the streams I've seen on YouTube/Twitch look pretty entertaining. Hopefully if it's successful they'll keep on adding content to keep the game fresh as the main criticisms seems to be that it gets kind of repetitive after a while and that there's no multiplayer. I'll probably pick it up on Friday when it's released on PC Edited August 10, 2016 by flyinghaggis
mrbios Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I haven't really kept up with information on this game, but have the devs promised to add more content? The general opinion I've gathered about it so far is that it's best described as the size of an ocean but the depth of a puddle.
siuko Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) Read this to get an idea of why I'm looking forward to playing It's the randomness of things happening and the exploration of an unknown place (and that place being Sci Fi helps) that is really exciting Edit - I also think I will do as some have done and potter around on the started planet for some time before moving on (well unless its dangerous lol) Edited August 11, 2016 by siuko
DJ-1701 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 The TV add featuring Bill Bailey is amazing! Damn it...
DalekSec Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Damn it... I DEMAND A REFUND!!!!! *I haven't brought it 1
BassTech Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 It looks like a good game, but I don't know if it's worth the asking price of £46 (amazon). Might wait for it to come down in price a bit first, also waiting for the reviews
Geoff Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I'm going to watch some twitch streams and lets plays on youtube and decide that way.

Might wait for it to come down in price a bit first, also waiting for the reviews Yeah. From what I've seen, it isn't worth £40. Its more of a £25-£30 game IMO.
BassTech Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Yeah. From what I've seen, it isn't worth £40. Its more of a £25-£30 game IMO. Definitely, plus I've heard (on PS4 at least) that there are some bugs causing the game to crash often, and as there's no auto-save people so are losing hours of gameplay, think it's wise to hold off on this one for a month or so until they sort the issues. Saying that, the Bill Bailey ad very nearly triggered an impulse buy!

Saying that, the Bill Bailey ad very nearly triggered an impulse buy! I have been playing this on the PS4 recently. It's a good game if you are happy to sit back and just explore, if that isn't your style of games. I would avoid it. On the saving, the game saves each time you exit your ship on a planet or you discover an outpost. If you are actively exploring it will be saving often, only lost about 10 minuets from being lost in some caves. The crashing is a bit of a pain, hoping they solve that soon
localzuk Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Played a couple of hours so far on PC. There's some performance issues (random lag spikes) and it crashed once, but overall a very playable game. In that 2 hours I've not yet left my initial system! Been too busy scanning everything. I suspect I will sink many an hour into this game.
