It's £449 or £499 on the OnePlus website. Shipping is free. :confused:

£550 includes protective case + dash charging plug.

 

OnePlus have grown significantly as a company and I think the price increases are representative of that.. Unfortunately the specs of the phone aren't keeping as 'flagship killer' as the One was. The 3T still looks pretty good though, but at £400 it's still cheaper to have my S7 Edge repaired. So my mind is made up. Sorry OnePlus, it's not me, it's you.

Well, I've ordered 8GB Ram/128GB with the welcome bundle which was 50% off.

 

Coming from an S7 it looks to be a big upgrade and I am really getting annoyed with my S7 as it seems to require a factory reset every 3 months or it grinds to a halt. The biggest selling point has actually been Oneplus 3 users saying they are more than happy to keep their phone. After a year the S7 has basically put me off a Samsung phone again.

 

Should arrive Friday hopefully!

Fair play to you. Indeed I've never been happier with my 3, and side by side comparisons to other devices it still holds up very well. Too many people are arguing over the display resolution which is utterly moot unless you're a VR freak; and even then, what are you doing VR on a phone for? :D I'm concerned over the benchmark tampering though... I know they all do it to a point certainly no exception from Samsung or Apple, but it still leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.

Quite happy with my 3T for most things.

Having to use it in dual SIM mode right now after cracking my iPhone screen at the weekend, and it is fine with that.

 

I miss the Apple eco-system for a lot of stuff and also want to get back to separating work from personal!

 

As a work phone, does everything I need ... but is a bit big for a personal device.

Yep, it's people saying how happy they are with an old model which is one of the key selling points. Also, agree with the screen I mean my S7 defaults to 1080p default from Samsung!

 

As for benchmarks, I have never checked them ever for any phone I buy it just seems pointless for the consumer if the phone works as fast as expected then happy days from me.

People get so daft about stuff like this if we assume the iPhone 7 plus is the current flagship and compare specs:

So the 128GB OP5 is £500 the comparitive iPhone 7 plus is £820 and also comes with a measely 3GB of RAM and cheating performance tests?? it is giving a performance it is capable of, it is performing at those speeds, its not making a number up. Don't we all try and give the best of ourselves (110%) when we are being assessed? I won't be upgrading from my OP3 just yet because I don't need the added features.

Phone performance tests aren't like PC performance tests. They're not supposed to be indicative of maximum potential. It's not about pushing the hardware to its limit. It's about how the phone performs day-to-day for your average end-user. And this is clearly not an accurate representation of that.

Well, I have been using the OP5 over the weekend and am very happy with it.

 

Compared to my S7 it's so much better, the battery lasts all day without issue the screen is great (the S7 default is 1080p anyway) and dash charging is incredible. I was in the shower for 10 minutes and it went from 0 to 46%, it also works with the screen on so charges that fast whilst using it - seriously impressive.

 

I haven't really used the camera but it takes great photos to my eyes it's a perfectly useable smartphone camera. It is also lightning quick and flies around the OS and handles everything I can throw at it!

 

If anyone has any question let me know but I couldn't recommend this phone enough!

OnePlus 5's screen is mounted upside-down, and the kernel contains code to constantly rotate it by 180 degrees. This is causing some visual bugs, apparently.

The audio is upside down too. :eek:

We’re glad to actually report that the problem we’re reporting on here is a small issue — one that can probably be patched in software — but word on one Reddit thread is that the issue is present on multiple devices.

 

One Jordy Holland, aka /u/opperdwerg, posted on the OnePlus subreddit a video testing out the recording abilities of the OnePlus 5. Everything looks and sounds okay when the bottom of the phone is oriented to the left side for landscape mode, but not on the right side. The device’s microphones, which are oriented on the top and bottom of the phone, seem to retain their channel assignments and while the resulting recording does output in stereo, what’s left is right and right is left.

 

The effect is most evident using headphones or clearly defined speakers.

 

Holland contacted OnePlus and was told that the company’s ROM team will queue the issue to be fixed by the next update. But the post has garnered a bandwagon effect as OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users have reported the same issue. Those users are worried that further OxygenOS won’t address the problem — after all, they may have to wait all the way through ’til December 31 to get their Android O update.

Well that's a pretty serious 'glitch' :rolleyes: I think OP have lost me, my next phone is the Pixel 2

 

Still using my One, but I don't think I'll be buying another phone from them. The Five has just been a trainwreck and I've lost faith in them now.

Already looking to jump ship back to iPhone once the new lineup has been meantioned, no point doing it until then anyway as I assume older phone prices will come down at that point as well.

Hmm.. Reports of the S7 edge having the same issue. I'm not using the stock ROM on mine, though.. I'll have to test it for when I get it repaired (Eventually..). But I also don't want to call the emergency services without there being an actual emergency...

And to be fair they have already got a fix for it waiting to be rolled out, none of these glitches put me off the phone at all, just cant justify upgrading the 3. We all remember the bending iPhones or the iPhones were you cant hold them a certain way because you block the antenna, or the iPhones map issue or the Samsung's that got banned from flights!

And I wouldn't have bought any of those phones because of it, either!

I mean, I'll never own an iPhone anyway, but that's besides the point.

More than happy with my OP3 so no reason to change it!

 

Been absolutely solid!

 

Only problem is they have become a major player and the whole idea of the One Plus ethos was cheapness with quality!

 

Yes I know its still a very cheap phone for the spec compared to others but its still crept up the cost ladder!

 

Next phone will probably be a HUAWEI P10 Plus or the next gen one!

Worth trying LineageOS (assuming that isn't the ROM you are already using)?

 

LineageOS adds support for OnePlus 5

 

LineageOS has done an impressive job with adding official support for more and more devices. The last time we took a look at the ROM, it had improved its Jelly browser and merged the August security patch to all its devices. Now even more phones are receiving official builds, including the OnePlus 5.

 

The most exciting new device is the OnePlus 5 (cheeseburger), which has had unofficial builds for a while now. Frankly, I'm surprised it took this long, but better late than never.

OnePlus appears to be tracking everything you do in every app in OxygenOS and provides no easy way to disable the data collection.

This kind of data collection, especially one containing information that can be directly tied back to me as an individual, should really be opt-in and/or have an easily accessible off switch…

 

After gaining some traction online, Twitter user @JaCzekanski pointed out that there is a way to remove the OnePlus Device Manager app via adb, without requiring root.

 

adb uninstall -k --user 0 net.oneplus.odm

The OP5 doesnt seem to be available to buy on the Oneplus website anymore. If you click buy it sends you over to 02. Rumours are that there will be an announcement on 16th November about a new phone. I was going to get a 5 for my birthday but I think I will hang on now just in case for the 5T or the OP6

It certainly looks like the 5T will be worth waiting for. :)

 

According to an earlier leak from GizChina, the OnePlus 5T will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, an Adreno 540 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 20MP front and rear camera. The rumored 6-inch screen will reportedly have a 1080 x 2160 resolution. A tweet from OnePlus’s CEO from three days ago sparked rumors that the OnePlus 5T might have an AMOLED display from Samsung. That makes sense, since the OnePlus 5 had a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen. (Source)
