tj2419 Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I'm still waiting for impero to get back to me. Was told I had been escalated nearly 2 weeks ago Not heard anything else. Which folders should I copy to keep all my settings. Is it just the data folder in the Impero Server and client folder?
badders Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 We've just had to remove the chrome extension for staff because it was breaking websites. Still having problems with Run As and permissions to run the console. Has anybody done a clean install with the latest version?
Homer Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Anybody on 5325 and aware of a TXT record that needs to be added for auto discovery on OS X clients? I can see the clients querying a TXT record but I don't know what it's after as a response (and IP doesn't seem to be enough)
clockend25 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 We're still awaiting a fix for the shutdown issue. Have tried adjusting the priority as suggested but no luck. We've also got issues with other policies defined at group level not applying. Anyone get the email about a visit to Impero HQ? Could be interesting...
keithwoods Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 (edited) Same here, adjusting priority does not work for either pin groups or shutting down problem. Due to exactly the same issues you mentioned, Impero finally contacted me last week after umpteen requests. A member of support took over, tried something that another member had already tried the week before and of course it didn't work. The call was then escalated to a more senior member of support, first thing he did was to try exactly the same thing again??. After 2 hours and various unsuccessful attempts to fix the problem(s) I was told that he had another call and he would phone back the next day to continue where he left off.... ......I'M STILL WAITING! Came in this morning to another problem, all consoles that were on 5.3.25 could not contact the Impero server. Uninstalled, reverted consoles PC's back to 5.2.10 and they can now contact server again. Edited June 13, 2016 by keithwoods
Mike01 Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 (edited) Im still on 5.2.10 glad ive hold off the upgrade - anyone remember how bad 5.0.03 was ?? Impero remote support use to be excellent its got really bad now. Maybe some key people have left? No one seems knowledgeable or the fix offered is just 'upgrade' all the time or 'our next release'. CHM-ITServices Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I've just scanned over this forum and couldn't see my issue mentioned but does anyone else have the issue with UAC. We've noticed you can't see the UAC prompt during a control session, which renders it pretty useless as a support tool as you have to walk down to the client and type in the UAC box! Just another bug for the list...

CHM-ITServices Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 You need to share control rather than take control to see UAC prompts. It's very annoying. Ah great stuff! At least there is a workaround! Beats walking half of the school to show someone how to expand a folder in Outlook
KibosJ Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Ah great stuff! At least there is a workaround! Beats walking half of the school to show someone how to expand a folder in Outlook . Yeah! Took me a little while to figure it out It's been like this for quite some time now. I don't whether they just can't fix it, or if it is just low on their priorities. It's annoying having to share control, when a student/Staff Member keeps moving the mouse and clicking on things!
Iain.Faulkner Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 We've been moved up another version to 5.3.29......and....*touch wood*....it's been much better! Shutdown working again, issues with the logs seem to be resolved as well.
woodham Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 how is .29 going as we are still getting clients dropping off the network
DrCheese Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 5, 6 or 7 impero icons appearing on taskbar at the same time. We had this, had to disable it on our HR managers PC as it was driving her insane! Schedule to turn off PC's every evening not working now. Massive pain in the backside with this - Our site management company complained that computers were being left on all weekend. I wouldn't mind, but their complaints go straight to the business manager! Doesn't give them confidence in IT if stuff that should be working, isn't. You need to share control rather than take control to see UAC prompts. It's very annoying. Yeah, kinda annoying when your using a student PC in the wild as you don't want them fiddling at all! We also randomly get "can't connect to impero" server issues, when the server is up & other consoles can connect with no issues. Also have problems with the "Logon to suite" thingy not working on Windows 10 (It sorta spurts the username in but doesn't go any further) Have started looking for alternatives, we rely quite heavily on impero for remote support (type in the users username & volia!) but it's getting annoying faffing around trying to get Impero loaded when you have a user at the end of the phone! I know Net Support DNA now has the same power management features as Impero & the school release doesn't have the same "take control" issue, so that may be the way forward!
mavhc Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Could be useful for us to make a google spreadsheet of features we actually use for impero and its competitors, and prices I'd set a group power policy to shutdown/hibernate after x hours of idle

Thanks for the mention - We have covered this in detail in a separate thread http://www.edugeek.net/forums/enterprise-software/167790-power-management-update-netsupport-dna.html Al.
Leehilton90 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 are people still having issues with the update? We have help off updating and were looking to do it during the summer.
clockend25 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 We're now on 5332 which seems to have sorted the shutdown issue. Given the time of year though, there might be new issues that we haven't yet uncovered...
6Foot2 Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 are people still having issues with the update? We have help off updating and were looking to do it during the summer. We have noticed that 5.3.21 will not deploy via our SCCM, but it will upgrade itself from our previous version. This does take a little while so we are exercising more patience than normal while we build. Hopefully this problem will be resolved for us in the next version.

Have all the bugs been fixed? i have heard a lot of people having trouble with certain thing like the power management ETC. Are there still issues?

Does it fail to start services? Which is what I get about 90% of the time... 10% of the time it's fine. ( 5.3.25 and 5.3.32 do the same nonsense )
6Foot2 Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 Can you expand on this? Does it fail to start services? Which is what I get about 90% of the time... 10% of the time it's fine. ( 5.3.25 and 5.3.32 do the same nonsense ) Impero adds itself to the station (the console icon appears) and adds the services. It takes ages to decide that it can't start the services and then removes Impero. Affected versions: 5.3.21, and 5.3.32. We are still deploying 5.2.10 and getting Impero to update itself. The batch file that send Impero from SCCM: @echo offpushd %~sdp0 start /wait msiexec.exe /i "ImperoClientSetup5332.msi" /qn /norestart As I said, this has worked for previous versions, so I don't understand why it hasn't for the recently released versions. I am going to call Impero later to see if there are any switches that I can add to make the newer install work. Here's hoping...
DrPerceptron Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 That seems like the issue we're having too... I did find that if it does fail you can't install it manually without the same fault, if you try and older install, it says a newer version is installed, but doesn't appear in ARP or like being uninstalled, the only way around was to run the Microsoft FixIt Install/Uninstall troubleshooter.

I was sent by the Impero helpdesk to force an uninstall in times of difficulty: @echo offecho ################################################## echo ## ## echo ## Re-install Impero ## echo ## ## echo ################################################## SET msiLocation= "\\SCCM-Server-Name\Config\Packages\Impero v 5.2.10\ImperoClientSetup52100.msi" SET destination="c:\" SET currentImperoDirectory= "C:\Program Files (x86)\Impero Solutions Ltd" SET instalationFile= "\\SCCM-Server-Name\Config\Packages\Impero v 5.2.10\ImperoClientSetup5210.msi" if exist "c:\Program Files (x86)\Impero Solutions Ltd\ImperoClient" goto FALSE goto TRUE :TRUE echo Stopping Impero Services net stop ImperoGuardianSvc && net stop ImperoClientSVC echo un-installing Impero wmic Product where name="Impero Client" call uninstall /nointeractive echo removing Impero Directory rd %currentImperoDirectory% /s /q echo copying new installation files copy %msiLocation% %destination% echo installing Impero msiexec /i %instalationFile% /quiet /qn echo Impero installed timeout /t 5 goto END :FALSE echo Impero already installed timeout /t 5 :END Exit /B If you try this, maybe you won't need Microsoft Fix-It? Trying to install v 5.3.32 manually is also unsuccessful. The only way that will work for us at the moment is as described. Deploy the old version and wait for the update.
speckytecky Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Now that Impero has released V 5.3.32 perhaps the time is right for a new thread. Clearly the team at Impero have been working very hard to correct the issues that this and it's predecessor thread raised. This week loyal Impero clients have been notified that next week there will be some massive changes happening with support and communication. I for one have great faith that they have taken heed and hopefully from the start of the new educational year will offer the robust product and support they used to be renowned for. Before the start of the new educational year we upgrade from Server 2008 to Server 2012 R2 and with that will be moving to the latest version of Impero. 2
T_Lister Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 We're still going with v5.3.25, but why can't I remove PCs that are no longer in existence? I've always removed from the group they're in, and then 'Remove from Group' again and they vanish. Now once they're not in a specific group, the remove is greyed out, so I now have over 100 machines that don't exist any more stuck in Impero?
