Yes, but it's part of the job I suppose.

 

I always try and keep a few devices to 'swap out' when staff need a fix NOW NOW NOW but don't have the time to give it to you.

 

I really hate being rushed when diagnosing/repairing, as it's inevitable I'll miss something or screw something up if I'm working with a margin of 10 seconds.

Yes! When they do give it to you they want it back by the end of the day even before you have looked at it.

I've got 2 members of staff with 2 laptops right now.

 

One of them has to use an external monitor because the screen has been smashed off - fully off the laptop, just the hinges left - she's only got it so she can move her itunes because she's the music co-ordinator!

Can be quiet a pain when you have to reinstall the OS, all the programs and re-encrypt the laptop too.

Yep or when they want a room sorted out but not willing to make the time for it. I don't know how some people have a car and expect an MOT/Servicing to be done while still driving it.

We don't do Laptops for any staff as they have to purchase their own and with them a support contract from where they bought it from.

 

Waste of good IT staffs time running around after Staff who don't have the knowledge of how to operate a laptop properly without installing everything under the sun off the internet especially malware and virus's.

Every classroom has a PC although I am constantly having to send reminders about where to save their work.

Issue here is we only have the budget for just the staff, no extras. So when one is down, its out for a while. I would love even 1 extra spare, The amount it would help...

When i say spare, i mean, can be used in emergency, core 2 duo monstrosities.

We once made the mistake of letting a teacher take a brand new laptop away as a spare whilst theirs was fixed. Months later we were still chasing them for it to swap back. Never again - we now only give slower laptops out as temporary replacements.

Oh god I hate it when you ask for things back and nothing happens. Had to ask for a staff loan laptop back that was used for a drama performance and we never got it back. 3 weeks later I went to the drama department and found not only the laptop but about 3 camera's we 'lost' about 2 months ago.

 

I don't mind if they just told us they have them but don't have time to bring them up as I'd swing by on the way past to grab them myself!
