Wow! That's crazy!

But I LOVE this quote though...

"I thought: 'There's nothing I can do' and went back to sleep. I just woke up again now."

I wish more people were like Mr Ahmadzai.

Slightly less scary than the exploding manhole covers that New York suffers... Link

So... has it not fallen in because of the weight of the engine? Looks trippy!

Presumably. Also the parking brake will lock the front wheels so it can only slide and not roll. Getting it out without causing further damage will be a challenge.

I've driven down that road so many times as it's a nice little rat run to avoid the Woolwich ferry traffic, so scary to think that one could just open up anywhere without notice.

I'm sure that once it's been parked for longer than the time limit, a low loader will come along and tow it away :)

Are we sure the Cthonians didn't come to take somebody?

Ever since reading the Titus Crow books I've been suspicious of the sudden appearance of sinkholes and the like...

Great read btw

I know what you mean.

Also I love Lumley, one of my favorite authors.

Nice theory, but car parking brakes almost always act on the rear wheels only, not the front. He may have left the car in gear whilst parked though, which would lock the front wheels.

On reading the article, and eyewitness said the car was resting on a pipe which was preventing it from falling right into the hole.
