I've definitely changed my mind from wanting one for the Easter Holiday, and now waiting until Summer to see what games are available. A PS4 with Persona 5 is now looking a far more tempting prospect...

As it's been pointed out elsewhere , if you don't like Zelda then the initial releases are very sparse. By the Summer you will have MK8 and Splatoon2 with hopefully a clearer picture of what is coming by the end of the year.

Although I'm buying one I do think that Nintendo should have delayed the launch to the end of the year, but with the Scorpio coming out then they obviously wanted to get the idea and concept of the machine to the buying public.

I personally think it will never reach the sale's of the Wii or the two main consoles, but it's a machine that will appeal to a lot of people especially as I'd imagine Nintendo will slowly move all their 3DS handheld plans to this machine.

Ultimately replacing all their handheld machines with varying versions of this console.

The main reason I'm delaying is because I was expecting to pay around £279-299 with Zelda included. At the £300 mark for just the system, which may be good value if the video posted before is anything to go by, is still substantially more that I was hoping.

I think the switch will be something of a sleeper hit. Once all the bigger IPs are brought onto the switch (Zelda, Mario, Smash Brothers, Pokemon, Monster Hunter) then it'll be a very interesting platform. In the short term, I'm more interested in the Atlas SMT and Xenoblade games, but they won't be released until the summer at the earliest by the looks of it. Maybe they're giving the console time to bed in before expecting a bigger rush for xmas next year, which is an interesting (and very Nintendo) approach.

Yep, same people. Persona 4 Golden on Vita is in my top 5 games of all time...

Also worth looking at Devil Survivor on 3DS.

no vita and i just end up abandoning long rpgs on 3ds i just want to use a tv lol but back on topic looks like some sort of remake is coming to switch as isnt shin megami tensei related to persona

The Persona series is a spin off from the Shin Megami Tensei games (I think), along with Devil Summoner and Devil Survivor (And Tokyo Sessions by the sounds of it).

I'm interested in the SMT games, but I remember the ones on the PS2 being a touch linear, and not altogether that interesting for me as I enjoyed the social aspect of Persona 4.

Was there a promo for a Bravely Default game or spin off for the Switch?

well we can add another game to the list fire emblem switch (yey) BUT sometime probably 2018 lol

though Nintendo's recent embracing of the series means hopefully some vc titles esp the game cube and wii ones which cost a bomb (says someone who has bought both)

I'm hoping for Mario Maker to arrive on the Switch as it was hugely successful and pushed a few extra Wii U hardware sales.

i see issues with that as its going to be hard to use it in anything other than tablet mode and it worked so far with 3ds/wii-u having 2 screens rather than just 1

I've put a link below to the latest updated game list taken from the /r/nintendoswitch reddit thread. Lots of titles on the way.

So far I have Zelda:Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on pre-order plus I'll probably pick up Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey when they're out. Quite a few of the upcoming RPG's (Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Chronicles, Dragon Quest, Shin Megami Tensei and Octopath Traveller) also caught my eye though most aren't released until nearer to 2018 unfortunately.

Some of the more retro/indie titles (Shovel Knight, Binding of Isaac, Streetfighter2, ) would probably be a good fit for the switch as well. I'm keen to see how the Virtual Console line-up pans out as well since we haven't really heard anything about that so far.

Good news for indie developers (or gamers who want 64GB of internal storage rather than 32GB).

Nintendo announced Switch Dev kits are $500

At the session of "The Game Creators Conference 2017" conference for the largest game developer in Kansai held today (18 February 2017, title development at Nintendo Switch ~ About the initiatives of platform person and third party by two persons ~), Nintendo's third party representative revealed that it plans to open the platform of Nintendo Switch even for indie developers.

Also, for Nintendo Switch, the price of the development machine, which was somewhat expensive for individuals and small developers, is said to be "about 50,000 yen".

Better be quick before all of the good user IDs are taken!

Claim your new Nintendo User ID

Nintendo’s byzantine online account system just got even more complicated, with the addition of a new "User ID" to user accounts. The new User ID seems to be the way you’ll be identified online, similar to Microsoft’s Gamertag system. It is not the same as a Nickname, another form of identification used for the same accounts. You’ll need to log into your Nintendo Account here to claim a User ID, even if you already have a Nintendo Account set up.

If you’ve used an online Nintendo service before, chances are you’ve got at least some of this down, but here’s where things stand with Nintendo’s current accounts:

nintendo_screen.png

NINTENDO ACCOUNT

Your Nintendo Account is the top level of all your online Nintendo services. It’s attached to your email address, and can be accessed here. It’s the portal through which you’ll manage account settings, including your account nickname, your Nintendo Network ID, and your new Nintendo Account User ID.

NINTENDO NETWORK ID

Your Nintendo Network ID (not the same as your Nintendo Account User ID) was used for online services with the Wii U and 3DS, where it provided access to the Nintendo eShop and Miiverse. You can link your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo account through the Nintendo account settings page. While that allows you to share an eShop Wallet between consoles, downloaded games aren’t really tied to the account (something that appears to be changing with the Switch).

NINTENDO USER ID

This is the new one. We don’t know exactly what this is used for yet — presumably something on the Switch — but you’ll probably want to go into the settings of your Nintendo Account to claim your moniker of choice anyway. As mentioned before, you’ll do that by logging into your Nintendo Account, and editing your User ID (see the image above).
