Anyone else get all misty eyed at Zelda games?

yes im just worried it will fall into the same trap as every open world game ive ever played then abandoned. Yes you can do all sorts but what do i do i actually like a linear narative in games

Jimmy Fallon played Mario run on the iPhone and Zelda on the switch the other night.

im not too good ar existential questions lol, but probably not

 

i just like to have some clue where im going and what im doing in a game i dont want to wander the wilderness finding things to do i want to talk to an npc/look at a help screen/navi etc and have it say you need to go here and do x. Most fun game ive played in years was tokyo mirage session #fe and it was exactly that i sunk over 80 hours into it and at no point did i ever wonder what i needed to do next i might of gone off and done a load of side quests (which were mainly easy to find and telegraphed they were open). I just hope that game sold well enough (bearing in m ind its on wiiu ) to get a sequel as i cant remember the last time i enjoyed a game anything like that much and kept coming back to it it and it did something most rpgs dont manage grinding never felt that bad

Ouch, I didn't think Mario run was all that bad to be honest! The only issue I had with it was that touch control made me want to go and play a 'real' Mario game using a controller!

 

Also, some more spec leaks rumouring that the switch is going to be based on the older 20nm Maxwell technology rather than the new Pascal architecture. Plus the clock speeds are looking a lot slower than anticipated with some suggesting it could actually be less powerful than the Nvidia Shield TV especially when running on battery power.

Still, that would at least make it more powerful than the Wii U and we all knew it was never going to worry the current crop of home consoles. Personally if it's little more power-wise than a portable Wii U I'd still be happy with that overall for a handheld device!

 

It's all pure speculation for now though....

I bought a copy of Games TM last weekend as they had a rundown on the Switch including launch titles.

One thing that caught my eye was that not long ago certain people (can't rmember if it was Nintendo guys or devs) were saying that the Switch would be equally as powerful as the Xbox One. I took this with a pinch of salt.

As regards the reported graphic limits I wonder if this is firmware limited and will be unlocked later once they have whatever issues it may have, sorted out.

All that remains to be seen now is the launch date and price.

Nintendo’s upcoming Switch console will be detailed during a live presentation from Tokyo on Jan. 12 starting at 11 p.m. EST.

from what i hear mario is less likely zelda atm looks like everywhere but Europe BUT as its supposedly region free just import from the states

Actually, regarding that $250 estimate if that's the US pre tax price by the time you add VAT and take into account how low the pound is just now we're probably looking at a £225-250 price tag if I'm being realistic Edited January 11, 2017 by flyinghaggis

720p touch screen 3-5 hours battery life undocked

zelda botw at launch probably worldwide maybe not europe (and if it is will be missing some languages)

no mainstream mario game at launch but one for summer/xmas

mario kart or splatoon with the other to fallow in a month or so

gamecube/nes/snes/n64/gba virtual console but none heavily populated wii/wiiu vc announced but coming at a later date

no smash until xmas at the earliest

probably no trophy / achievement system

uses my nintendo account so hopefully no more fiend codes and with any luck downloaded titles are tied to an account not a device

fingers crossed, though I'm not getting hopes up after seeing Super Mario Run uses friend codes too.

I think Nintendo will release a new game with a new IP.

 

HUGE Virtual Library launch.

 

The Switch will be VR ready (with headset)

 

New Mario and new Sonic games with launch.

 

New Zelda out in July.

I'm not quite that dedicated but I'll probably watch it on the way to work tomorrow morning

 

Not long now...... all aboard the hype train.....

 

 

I notice there's also a 'Treehouse'? presentation tomorrow afternoon so we might not have all the details about launch games/etc until after that.

Too pricey at the moment, when they are selling ps4's with two games for £199 at xmas then it looks overpriced. Having said that I will probably buy one as I'm a Nintendo fan !

i might of already put the preorder in at game southampton for it and might look at booking the day off to sit down and play zelda for the whole weekend

 

as for the price thats only 100 more then when the 3ds was first released and the same with the wii u

It's a pity about the online service, it looks like you only get a 'free' game to play for a month. But as I already have a raspberry pi set up with Retropie I can already play the old NES,SNES games and N64.

I totally agree. That price will be very prohibative for many and parents are simply going to go for the best value for money.

I think Nintendo may have made a huge error and learnt nothing from the Wii U pricing problem (that was $299 on launch as well).

With Sony and Microsoft set to be launching new consoles by the year end I suspect many will simply hold back now.

True, I can see the machine going the same way as the Wii u, pity as it looks a very interesting concept but judging by the online game community a lot of potential buyers have came to the same conclusion.
