So not bothered whether people believe or not... but what I do want to know is... have you ever encountered anything weird? Been in school all alone in the holidays and something spooky happened?

I WANT TO KNOW.

I love ghost stories.

Ive been in the creaky building over the holidays alone and its not nice, other than that personally no:P.

Though a good few years back there were some after school care staff looking after some kids and someone kept nocking on a window inside the locked yard... happened a few times and had them all in a twist.

a few weeks later a kid started screaming and cried his eyes out in the middle of nursery, once the teachers calmed him down he claimed to have seen a man with his face burned off if i remember right.... so the later made the former even worse...

i just laughed about it and got on.. but

Yup... once - I was at School during the start of the summer holidays and I was one of the only staff there that day - I went to look in some classrooms and not a single person had left a projector turned on.

Spooky stuff!!

The last place worked was haunted.

If i ever went up in to the tower you could sense that somebody was watching you. I was up there once and just before i opened the door i head a loud crash from inside the room. I went in i couldn't find what caused the noise.

Shortly after that i heard from the caretaker that they have had workmen up on the top floor on a few weeks later at a weekend, that ran out of the school because something go thrown across the corridor and heard GET OUT!

I posted this here last year: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/147708-help-ghosts-4.html but just in case you missed it...

A few years back we did a tour of Scotland for a week, up the east coast to visit ZeroHour in Aberdeen then up through the highlands and down again.

On our way back we spent our final night at New Lanark, an old mill factory/community with a fantastic series of waterfalls (the Clyde Falls) not far from it and we stayed in the hotel there which is located in one of the old mill buildings.

Because our kids were young (2 and 4 at the time) they had extra beds put in our room which was on the top floor in wing of the hotel. Between midnight and 1am both of our kids had climbed into bed with us (like they do in strange places) and after an uncomfortable few minutes my wife decided enough was enough and she'd sleep in one of the kids beds which was right along my side of the bed.

We were both wide awake at this point.

The very second she climbed in the bed my daughter had just vacated we heard a noise that seemed to be coming from everywhere.

The only way I can describe it was like a bird flapping its wings against the window (which was initially what I thought it was if a bird had decided to roost out there for the evening).

The noise then started to come from various places throughout the room. All the time my wife and I are looking at each other to check if we could both hear this. After a few minutes of this noise, a second noise started up as well.

This noise can only be described as someone dropping a full locker on the floor once every 30 or so seconds from the room next door. We could feel the vibrations from it in our room.

This carried on for a further 10 mins until we decided enough was enough (thinking that it was people in the room next door playing silly buggers) and my wife turned the bedside light on. It was like (literally) a switch being thrown to kill whatever had been making all of this racket. It stopped the instant the light came on.

As it was late we decided to mention it to the desk staff in the morning and went back to sleep. When we got up there was one of the hotel staff in the corridor who turned out to be the floor attendant and we mentioned the noisy neighbours last night. She actually looked a bit shocked and explained that there was only one other occupied room on our floor last night and they were at the other end of the corridor. She also told us that the hotel had a bit of a reputation amongst staff for strange goings on, but they don't make a big noise about it for fear of losing trade

To this day my wife and I still have no idea what went on there that evening, but something was in the room with us and making a noise. Even our kids woke up and heard it.

It only made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up the next day driving home when we discussed it at length.

We also had an experience a couple of years after that which I won't post up here for various reasons. But I had experianced nothing before or after these two incidents. It certainly opened my eyes.

Not a ghost story but someone was scared:

I am usually first in school usually an hour or more before the next person comes in. One winter morning, while it was still quite dark, I heard the Site Manager moving around downstairs and nervously calling out:

Is that you Dave?...

I found this amusing because this man is a bit of a Walter Mitty [He's done everything including, I have no doubt, ghost hunting]

I left him to sweat for a few minutes but eventually put him out of his misery by telling him that I couldn't hear his earlier calls over the noise of the servers.

I did a network install over the weekend, massive old 1970's pre fab school, no heating, close to midnight, every door sqeeaked, I was walking around, most of the lights were off, apart from in the corridor, I went into a small office to build a machine, and I swear to god I heard people talking, as if they were next door. It was not anyone with me, as they were in the server room, and far away at the other end of the building. They would also have to walk into that section though the creaking doors. It was not anyone outside either, as the whole building is surrounded by playground, far from the street.

When I told my colleagues they said I was mad.

I KNOW WHAT I HEARD.;)

Strange stuff! Thanks for starting this thread @Joanne and thanks for the link back to the other thread @Dos_Box, stories made for interesting reading! Open minded in anything like this and the paranormal/glitches in the matrix ;), and was actually infatuated with the idea as a kid, there are so many streams of thought on the subject! I haven't had anything that I could quantify as a ghostly experience, but have heard stories from others, including from a retired minister who is a friend of the family.

I found this quote from @X-13 in the refered thread and can't help but comment...

Years and years of science... but no proof. Where are the dinosaur ghosts? Where are the cow ghosts?

Seems legit.

All I can say is maybe the cow ghosts have moooooved on. ;)

OK. I have been persuaded by my colleagues to relate this. It happened when I was quite young.

It was about 7 or 8 in the evening and it was a foggy, cold November night. Dad was out and Mum was in the kitchen (at the back of the house) My brothers (one older, one younger) were in the living room with me. I heard a knock at the front door that the others seemed to ignore. I decided that the knock should be answered so I opened the front door. I saw a man in top hat and tails. He didn't say anything but he seemed to fade away until I lost him completely in the fog (He disappeared like smoke)

I told my Mum, and later my Dad. They spoke to neighbours who had lived in the area longer than us. They told of a wedding party that was held in our house in the mid-1930's. Apparently there was a death during the party. I can't recall any more detail than that (that November night is nearly 40 years ago now)

My interpretation: I imagined the whole thing. I can't remember any more detail than I have given here. What I do remember comes from the re-tellings that have been requested of me over the years. What I do remember is that even as a youngster I enjoyed horror films. I think I may have watched one, become quite tired and then had a little sleep-walk where I was not fully awake or asleep.

You make your own minds up about it.

My friend Jay said that ghosts don't come to us, but sometimes we slip into their dimension / world.

There are so many thoughts, higher dimensions, materials that record events based on heightened emotional state and replay, collective unconscious to name a few.

One time when I'd not been here long we had a trolley of stuff we were wheeling past one of the English offices. Saw someone stood in there but didn't think anyone was in. Just passed the corner, in the same moment thought I'd go in and say hi and turned on my heel to do so. There was nobody there.

Second time I saw it was that summer when I walked up the science stairs and saw JUST the end of someone walking through a doorway as I got to the last flight, but a moment later notice the door was closed. It looked a it like one of the shadow people from Alan Wake.

Anyway, I'm not the only member of staff to have seen this.

I put in a job about a ghost for the site team and they got really cross. :)

Hahahah! Have they seen it too then? This school building is only 12 years old and wasn't built on a graveyard... so no spooky goings on for me!

Love a bit of Urbex. We went into an abandoned paper mill last year. Sunny Saturday afternoon. Went into the basement bit, we just had phone torches because we weren't planning on going inside. So as we were walking there were loads of weird noises. Convinced that someone else might have been in there. We carried on anyways, joking about being murdered. Some really creepy noises as we ascended a ramp, but it was probably the wind...

We went back with a friend and took some photos. It was pretty creepy.

Lad Bible posted a story about this place, so I googled it...

'We spent the night in Hull's scariest house - and saw this face' | Hull Daily Mail

You can visit this house - and many others via this website - Phantasmic Paranormal Events - Haunted House Ghost Walks - Ghost Hunters

I am so going to do this! Some of the places look really cool!!

This place it literally two minutes away from work! I may have to swing by on my way home and take a look.
