ITIL Course - who where how?!

Looking at a few jobs and the higher up you go the move they are asking for ITIL.

 

Does anyone have any experience or vendors who they have done the course / training with as want to get this done and added to the CV soon as!!

 

Is it majorly hard and indepth? Is a full course required or would a good read of a book be sufficient?

The wife did ITIL training at Stratum but thats all the way down in Cardiff, dont know if thats of any use to you.

 

There was a lot of night reading, was very full on and there was an exam she had to pass. It was tough but she seemed to really enjoy it. (She then went on and did PRINCE which was a similar structure).

I have just done an ITIL course and although is not required off the bat to get a job in HE most if not all ask for it, I just moved to a uni and as a first they put me on an ITIL course run by QA.

ITIL is tedious but important. Most places will probably just ask for the Foundation certificate and for 90% of people, that will be enough. I've done v2 and v3, I did v2 with QA and v3 with Purple Griffon. The latter specialise in ITIL and are a fair bit cheaper than QA which may be important if you need to pay for it yourself

I did ITIL V3 self study and it was fine. I passed the test after 3 weeks hard study. Depends on how you do in the test environment really but I would recommend self study

which resources did you use for self study? Any recommended books?

To be honest, for ITIL stuff, @wagnerk and anyone over at certforums will be the best placed to give advice.
