Screen Capture Software

Hi All,

 

I've been asked to install some free screen capture software in one of our ICT suites.

Can anyone recommend some free software which will do the job?

Still images: You can use Snipping Tool that comes with Windows 7.

 

Still images and short clips [saved as Gifs] you can use GYAZO.

It's not free but Screencast-O-Matic Screencast-O-Matic is £15 for a year or £29 for 3 years, brilliant price in my opinion for what it can do!

+1 for Screencast-O-Matic. I use the free version which does what I need it to do. You get a watermark at the bottom of the recording but not the end of the world. As above the paid version is very reasonably priced if you need to get rid of the watermark.

Allows you to make vgifs, gifs and PNG's.

I use Wink which lets capture on mouse click or continuously or key stroke. You can also annotate the captured frames with arrows, boxes etc and write in them. The boss likes Windows built in problem steps recorder but I find the resulting output too small.

You have probably already considered project Step recorder PSR.exe free and built into Windows 7 upward?

Greenshot for static images is great and much quicker and controllable than snipping tool

Open Broadcaster Software. Honestly use this one. Great video and audio quality, easy to use. I use it at my school. Never had any issues
