Classroom Management Software?

Hi folks, no doubt people have asked this many times before. Apologies if you've already seen this question hundred times, but I'm looking into some Classroom Management software and I'm wondering what other people prefer between NetSupport, Impero or Insight?

Impero here. it's ace but £££. Just stay away from 5105

We are using Impero. We are on version 5.0.03 and there are issues that I would like fixed. Looking forward to the next version hopefully...

Maybe but when I looked at it, it was about ten times the price! AB Tutor is ideal if you just want classroom management, Impero may be a better choice if you want the other features that come with it. FWIW, I didn't so I recommended AB Tutor.

 

Impero sales people can be annoyingly persistent too, even when you ask them to go away and stop contacting you. The last time I contacted them for a quote, I was promised that those sales practices were over. Guess what happened about three weeks later? A phone call from Impero begging me to try the latest version of the software. They wouldn't take no for an answer.

Look at Netsupport, they are very competitve at the moment.

They're not quite as competitive when you start actually adding in what you need. They don't have one product that is half of Impero, so you'll need to start piling on the addons.

Again, I had the exact opposite problem with Impero. They piled on a whole load of crap that I either didn't need or already had with other products and they were extremely reluctant to quote for a version without it.

There's always a deal to be had with Impero, especially towards the end of the month.

Also approach re-sellers (IDNS, Softcat, etc.) as they can offer further discounts on top of the base price that Impero are allowing them to sell it at. Impero can do this for you but again are a bit naughty in not offering initially.

Hope you don't mind me clarifying, as i appreciate we have added a lot of features to our solutions recently, so you may not have seen the latest versions. NetSupport DNA for Education is a suite, like Impero that covers lots of features from Inventory and Licensing, network management through to classroom management and more. ( Feature summary).

 

With the latest version, feature for feature, we'd argue we do quite a bit more, not half that of other products. I'd encourage you to check with our team as many who met us at BETT would have seen our suite hands on, and found out that it is (all features included) much more cost effective than most.

 

I totally respect everyone has their own preference for each solution, but as a sponsor on EduGeek it seemed reasonable just to highlight how the product has changed.

We use Impero and it's great fun taking the automated screenshots it takes of any Violations made by the students to the computer suite that they are in and hand it to the teacher in the room for them to deal with!

Definitely +1 you on that , it is a really popular feature in NetSupport DNA too.

Well the good news is yes, we are the same company, and really glad you like Notify, its very popular here and especially in the US. Bad news though, as NetSupport Notify normally works out at less than £1 a PC for a permanent licence, i'm afraid NetSupport DNA is a little bit more than that but i promise it's awesome too !

 

... its just been shortlisted as finalist in the Network Computing awards for the shortest payback for an organisation from purchase; and the ITAM specialists at Pink Elephant just shortlisted it for their 2016 innovation of the year award. (so they think its awesome too !)

I read all about the classroom management software, discussion here and I want to share my thoughts, as would it not better instead of the software go with free classroom management app like mylyapp. I think app would be one of the best technology for classroom management, and app like myly also embedded with advance features like easy parent teacher communication, A famous quote "Teachers who use technology will replace those teachers who are unaware about technology"

Myly sounds interesting-ish but going by the extremely vague description of the software on their website, it doesn't sound like it's anything like Impero, Netsupport, ABTutor et al.

 

Also, first post recommending software? Are you employed by the Myly people by any chance?

I am not employee, I am a college teacher, Just I share my information when I get some new things on Internet, by chance I get this website and share my views; I also searched which is better - app or software but in that I found, app is also a software. So just I provide my views about myly, I like the word myly.

Is it just me who can't stand impero? The function to block certain portable apps/software sounds great until the students change the name of the app/software (it blocks by name and not product ID or hash) then it runs again, so it's not really a solution to GP, so what is the point in that function? other than a temporary inconvenience to students that want to run annoying portable VPN apps, also if you run Sonicwall and impero together and someone adds a website to the impero block list prepare for a world of conflicts between the two, better to use content filtering using one preferred method (For me Dell SonicWall), I find the UI clunky and really poorly programmed and the only good thing about it is catching violations, even the remote control function is useless as the students will flip the airplane mode to on and then your stuffed ( I know that would be the same for any classroom management ) I think its over priced and very amateur to be honest, I could see it working quite well with desk stations but it doesn't work with laptops well at all.
