Have you got two subnets lists or one?

Has the QNAP got a two NIC's with different static IP's? Have you also tried hard shutdown then turning the system back on, I ran a QNAP on a CC4.5 network and need had this issue, but I did have a similar issue where it didn't look like it had joined but after a restart it actually had joined no problem.

Not used RM CC4.5 with windows 10 to be honest have you tried adding the shortcut to the shortcut bank manually? I know that there is a redirection policy with vanilla as the start menu and desktop menu are configured differently and both need to be setup the way you want them to, but as I'm using 8.1 at the moment on vanilla I'm not sure RM configure it in quite the same way. I had a similar issue to yours with construct 2 and CC4.5 it basically took like a day before the shortcut showed up, but that was windows 7.

I was just wondering, purely because I quite like RM CC4.5 (Spent a lot of time building one for a primary school from scratch about a year ago and it was a lovely network) but I never got on with RM Tutor very much and I don't know many other classroom management tools to be honest, well good ones anyway.

Don't get me wrong guys I fully understand that yes airplane mode is an issue with all classroom management products. I just think that if they updated it to block the software correctly from running I would love it, when I joined this network halfway through its setup I figured I would spend a while configuring impero and sonicwall, some of the management staff added sites to block in impero, once I put them in the sonic wall filter and removed the impero filter I was then getting the DATA_ERR, then it turned out that someone who setup the user accounts had not put the users into groups in AD, impero can't handle that obviously and blocks all traffic to the user that is logged in (Just an FYI for anyone who might have come across that issue, check the AD groups) I do like that it has .msi deployment I've never used it but I might try it out soon. Is Impero compatible with RM CC4.5 networks does anyone know or has tried?

Is it just me who can't stand impero? The function to block certain portable apps/software sounds great until the students change the name of the app/software (it blocks by name and not product ID or hash) then it runs again, so it's not really a solution to GP, so what is the point in that function? other than a temporary inconvenience to students that want to run annoying portable VPN apps, also if you run Sonicwall and impero together and someone adds a website to the impero block list prepare for a world of conflicts between the two, better to use content filtering using one preferred method (For me Dell SonicWall), I find the UI clunky and really poorly programmed and the only good thing about it is catching violations, even the remote control function is useless as the students will flip the airplane mode to on and then your stuffed ( I know that would be the same for any classroom management ) I think its over priced and very amateur to be honest, I could see it working quite well with desk stations but it doesn't work with laptops well at all.

I've used Ruckus in two schools now, and Dlink before that in another, must say I much prefer the Ruckus system, but I'm not sure what is going on at my new site as connections are slow so when I get an hour free this week I need to look into it more.

What time does the server backup and what software/service are you using to backup the server?

I once had this issue on a 2003 server a long time back, I believe it was a driver crash on the graphics or some hardware fault, it was so long back I can't remember but look into the GPU driver on the server more often than not their never installed when they should be but 2008 should do this, is this a RM2008R2 CC4 server?
