Hi all

Has anyone set SOLUS 3 up with Email Alert settings at all please? Would be interested to know as I have someone who is wanting to set it up but they cannot put in a username and password that is for accessing the SMTP server because the SMTP server is held by LGFL and doesn't need a username and password to authenticate.

Anyone else experienced this at all please?

regards

Simon

Yes, we have. Our mail server also does not need authentication and the e-mails just "go" without any issue, however we are moving to Office 365 very soon for mail, and SOLUS 3 has no SSL/TSL authentication mechanic so once we have migrated, we won't be able to use them.

On another note, the e-mail's SOLUS 3 send appear to be bugged in relation to deployments, as we get random, daily "Workstation upgrade failed" e-mails for no reason. The alerts are handy to see when a new release/patch has arrived, but they are next to useless for actual deployments.

Simon - just put "annoymous" for the user/pass

Bubbles - if your LA/ISP still blocks 25 you either have to continue using their relay, or setup your own local one - I know there are alot of other guides on here that explain the process, its just a standard feature of Windows Server and its useful for other things - like printers

School have finally come back to me saying that it still doesn't work even with annoymous in the boxes. LGFL is still not authenticating. Anyone have any further ideas about this or experienced the same problem?

Yeah we have office 365 and so no more notifications. I was against switching but it was easier to support for the non technical support staff.
