It's probably time a BETT thread was started, my boss has given me the all-clear, but I want to pick a day where there will be plenty of forumites present!

No you don't. You want to pick the day with the best free stuff :p

As suggested by someone else, the thread for discussing early plans to go to BETT, blag lifts or accommodation, etc

We just need to remind @ZeroHour to rename the forum to BETT 2016

Never been to one - but hoping to go to this one - anything I should know

Apart from taking a bag for free stuff obviously

Exhibitors will always want to scan your badge. Some people like to create two passes, one for giving out generally for stuff you aren't really interested in and one for those you don't mind contacting you post show ;)

Yup, i did this. Just had to remember which was which, this time it will be green lanyard for ok and red for false details.

When i got back i checked the GFI logs to see who had tried to email my fake address, turns out a fair few people had.

Do you just make up a school name and email address?

It's a real email address (you need to receive the badge to print it). Just one that you never use.

As for your job title and employer... be as creative as you like.

@X-13 has has some beauties :)

Nah, use the real school name and make an email address up with your school domain and delete once you receive the badge.

It very much depends on what you want to achieve.

If you want to browse and be ignored be as inventive as you like.

If you would like them to take you seriously, but not be bothered after the show, create a junk @schoolname email address and make your badge reasonably realistic.

Have a proper badge for emergencies when you actually do want someone to contact you

There was a thread about what to take/prepare yourself with last year (http://www.edugeek.net/showthread.php?t=147967).

I was thinking about going for one day but now ive looked over the list of exhibitors and speakers, im thinking maybe 2 days would be ideal now.

Last year i went for one day and never got to see any of the seminars as the place was just so big and i had that much free stuff. By the time i had looked round the entire place it was going on 3pm and things were starting to wind down.

This year ill be taking some kind of camera, maybe a gopro to record some of the seminars to watch back later on.

Maybe we could have a twitter hashtag of #bettfreebies on where and what people have found the best freebies? I remember last year there was a thread about it. Maybe @ZeroHour could look at combining both maybe, if thats possible? Posts on here could update to a # conversation? Just a thought thats all.

Not worth it, same old stuff, people trying to sell you odds and sods which we don't want anyway.

I think going every year is a waste of time imo.

Its geared towards co-ordinators instead of us techs.

It would be great if a similar venue was held that focused on the technical support side, stuff that goes on behind the scenes etc.. my 2 rupees worth..:D

Worth attending once in a while if you have projects looming.

We have many Techy events just not Edu ones, such as IP Expo & UC Expo to name two ive attended & HPE have just had a multi-day event showcasing lots of things (huge due to the HPE split) so they do exist.

Speaking from the other side BETT is great from a business side we use several EduGeek suppliers where I work and the are grand :)

I have looked through the Bett Exhibitors List and cant see Edugeek on the list. Are the going this Year?

They may team up with smoothwall again but dont quote me on that.
