Not so simple I'm afraid.

 

My Principal employs me to get the college what it needs. Not him what he wants. He comes to me with ideas and relies on my professional expertise to explain what is and is not possible, feasible and affordable. That's a huge part of what it means to undertake a professional role in an organisation. Simply giving people whatever they ask for just because they're higher up the ladder than you is a short-sighted approach that, in a reasonably sensible organisation, is more, not less, likely to result in you no longer getting 'your payday at the end of every month'.

 

If you go back to the original post from @gsk, their head asked them for 'a laptop' with various requirements, not 'a macbook' or whatever, and gsk asked here for advice on how to best achieve that. Not so simple, again; their head doesn't know what they want, just what they want it to do.

Problem is when the head is less professional that you are, I've worked with plenty who didn't much care for my opinion, I was there to serve them and keep my trap shut.

It's well and good if you are professional, but the few HT's I have worked with in the past could careless of what your professional opinion/judgement is on a matter. What they want/need/request in that moment in time is something you will have to abide with. HT's can make your life hell if you go against them and HR will ultimately side with them, even if they know they're in the wrong. After all, HR services is paid for by the school, not you.

Metal Body,

Chiclet Keys,

1080p or better screen

7 hours or better battery life

8gb 1866mhz RAM

PCI-e not SATA storage 128gb or more

Windows 10 Pro

 

For less than £765

 

I'm looking at veryPCs ultrabook but want to see and try one before buying.

I'm looking at the MacbookPro Retina 13 which is where the £765 comes from including the windows licence

 

Any other suggestions?
