Its shame as we'd planned to buy a trolley of them due to their reasonable price, robust design and child friendly lock down. Now I'll have to find a way to lock down Android tablets in a different way

I've never seen one of those in the flesh - they don't offer any upfront pricing so I bet they can't beat the £99 (or £80 without the vat!) of the hudl2. Plus we wanted a simple android with a handful of core apps rather than a customised OS. 1

The more superlatives you stack up in the name the better the product right? No word of a lie, I have a VGA lead on my desk that came free with a projector which is from the "Best Happy Luck Copper Cable Manufacturing Co. Last time I asked, it was close to £10k (inc VAT) for 3 sets of 8 (including cases, keyboards, charging storage, teacher unit and other gubbins) plus site licence.

Seems really solid. Could be a solution for those that need a cheap device and your can chuck in onto your domain potentially.

They aren't bad, we've been donated (read: tax write off) 20 of them by a local company who bought them to be a cyber cafe at a big conference, they've been used for about 72 hours tops! The issue is that all of the things we need are actual android apps.
Sheridan Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 The Learnpads are a bit too pricey. We're going to try some generic Asus/Acer type of sub £100 8" tablets and see how they perform. We only need basic Android as we want them as mobile browers and video/music players. 1

jinnantonnixx Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 (edited) I ended up going for the Lenovo Tab 2 A8 (reduced to £79 at Argos) I set it up ready to go as a Christmas present, and was really quite pleased with it. It's only got 1G of RAM (but 16G of storage+SD), so you might see some apps reload if you do a lot of multitasking with heavy apps. Apart from this, it's a good performer and is stock Android (5.1), which is nice. The sound is excellent. For the price, it's a winner. Edited November 23, 2015 by jinnantonnixx
