iPad Air or iPad Mini

Hi,

 

I am wanting to purchase an iPad using it for email, we browsing etc. Would you for the iPad Mini or iPad Air? I can't decide what size to go for!

How big are you hands? The cost difference is a huge factor, but I suspect for most that the Mini is big enough - if that kind of use is fine on a phone, it'll be fine on an 8" tablet. The Mini 2 16GB is actually looking pretty good value, though it depends how much you'll be storing on it.

From a size point of view, I think the Mini is fine. However, the iPad air is so much quicker and smoother to use.

The iPad Air and the iPad Mini 2 are pretty much identical internally. The Air 2 and Mini 4 are similar but the Mini 4 has one less core and is slightly lower clocked.

 

To the OP, I'd go into an Apple Store and try both out and see which you prefer. Or to another reseller of your choice if you don't have an Apple Store nearby.

 

Don't forget that you get 10% off iPads at an Apple Store if you wave your work ID at them

I have an original mini and its decent enough, but I would plump for the Air myself too after having a mini, its just a little too small (dont know the difference a non-ret screen makes either)

The thing I like about the Mini is its more portable than the Air.

I have a First Gen Air, and an iPad Mini 2 at home and i use the Mini most. Its just more comfortable to hold with it being smaller. Only time i seem to use the Air is for using Microsoft Office or playing some games, everything else i head for my Mini. Don't forget there will also be the iPad Pro from next month to add into the size question.

I have a work provided Air 2, worth it just for the split screen feature I think!
