kennysarmy Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 It's DMS \ DocStorage \ Reports I have this path: S:\SIMS\DocStorage\SIMS02-V\SIMS2008\sims which is weird as I thought they had upgraded our sims instance to 2012 ???
pete Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 It looks like they've messed up. Your DocStorage path should look something like: ....\DocStorage\SIMSServerName\SQLInstanceName\sims So if you move SQL from server01\sims2008 to server02\sims2012 you need to stop the document server and rename the folders appropriately.
matt40k Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 No, they haven't changed it within SIMS, so SIMS is still pointing at the old server for reports and anything that uses DMS. Change it within SIMS via the Tools \ Setup whatever the menu option is. Once you've change it to the new server, you should notice the correct folder appears. If it doesn't then its in a different location - then you just need to copy the reports over (if they haven't already).

I agree - they have messed up - I've wasted hours on this myself and the whole point of paying them £200 was to free up my time to do other things....that's back-fired... I will be asking for the invoice to be ripped up! They are dialling back in again after lunch to have another look at sorting....
timbo343 Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 @kennysarmy Im sure with all the time you have wasted trying to troubleshoot your poorly installed version you could have installed it yourself. Even if you aren't sure how to do it, im sure there are plenty of people on here who could help you out.
matt40k Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Personally, I'd have let them troubleshoot it and just left them to it. After all, that's what they've been paid for. Also remember, its being done by humans and us humans forget things\make mistakes. If these particular humans give up, don't pay them, get someone else to do it.
ITGURU Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Have you run the 2 patches that are supplied by Capita to re-index tables? It has helped us out in the past when SIMS was running slow, and now from pressing enter to getting the sims home page up takes 8 seconds. A secondary school with a 8.2GB database file.
kennysarmy Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 Well it's sorted.... The Document Server was still pointing to the old server name! Whilst it might be an easy mistake to make it should n't have happened if the system was checked properly before the guy left site - I'm pushing for a reduction on the invoice...
