Genee G-Touch Interactive Touchscreens / Televisions

Hello all,

 

Long time lurker but first post!

 

We are looking at purchasing 4 interactive screens to replace 3 of our tired current AV solutions (projector/smartboard)

 

We are looking into 1 x 70" and 3 x 65" screens and having looked at various suppliers and quotes we are nearly there on a decision however I felt a reach out to the community can't do any harm.

 

The two that I think I have narrowed down to are Genee G-Touch Deluxe models and Clevertouch V Series. They both come with various free IWB software which are both much of a muchness etc you guys know what they are...

 

I have seen and tested both but i have concerns over Genee's place in the marketplace. I have searched high and low and they don't seem to be that popular in comparison to others does anyone have any input on this etc?

Asking myself a similar question this morning so thought would have a scan on here.

 

Looking at an 80" model of the Genee G-Touch but have similar concerns about their place in the market as well as reliability. The functionality is all there and read reviews where people use it with Smart software (paying licence separate of course).

 

One of the massive points I'm drawn to is that it comes with a 7 year on site warranty! That's huge compared to other vendors which only offer 3/4 years.

 

Anyone any experience with them?

As a reseller of touchscreens, Clevertouch are the market leader whilst Genee have a tiny part of the market, hence why they need to offer attractive warranties etc. As mentioned by others you should be able to get a loan unit to trial, i know Clevertouch offer this service. Feel free to DM if you require any assistance with this.

 

Alternatively the Promethean Activpanel is quite cost effective.

 

The main differences between the screens is the software used to drive them and ability to interact with existing lesson plans (notebook and Promethean for example). Make sure the software meets your needs as much as the screen itself.

i have seen the genee touch in action at BETT, wasn't that impressed. Having looked at them all I liked the CTOUCH and it had a seven year warranty. But I have never seen one in a real class situation. Will the teachers be ok with the move away from Notebook

I've seen a lot of my customers moving towards the Vividtouch Screens. Comes with a nice selection of software which includes, Notebook and Wordwall classroom activity maker.The warranty is pretty good too, 5 yr. onsite warranty included as standard. We have 16 of the 65" Genee screen All of them are faultless, and the Spark software is a massive upgrade over smart notebook 11.2 ( which teachers can still use ) and you can use spark with the older smartboards.

 

We had loan screens from Ctouch CleverTouch and Genee, cosmeticly Looking Genee was not the most stylistic, but seemed to have the lease lag ... not scientifically proven , just felt that way.

Many options out there for you @abers. It is much a "what shoe fits" when it comes down to what works for you in regards to the software packages. I would suggest a demonstration to get a good idea of which fits your needs best.

I've purchased the G-Touch Deluxe, with the built in Android for our School, we brought one initially for the school hall (80'') and then placed an order for an additional 12 screens (65'') for the classrooms. The software is fantastic and the support from Genee World is really good, they took all the hassle away from me and my guys.

 

Give them a go. Get a demo booked with them, if you're lucky you might get the CEO doing the demo :-)

We have just had Genee supply and fit their boards in our new school (last Easter), having gone trough the process that you are now undertaking. I too was looking at a choice between Clevertouch and Genee, we went for Genee in the end because of the software.

 

The fitters were efficient, friendly and best of all tidy! whatever (very small amount) of aftersales support we have needed has been dealt with swiftly.

The selling point of the CTouch was that it's driver free and provides good amount of connectivity options, e.g. VGA, HDMI etc. Another key selling point is its anti-glare glass, which was a must when some of the screens were going into classrooms where it's flooded with large amounts of sunlight. I trialed a few others but the CTouch won hands done for our teachers and students.

 

We have 5 in total since their introduction in 2013. My aim is to introduce 2 screens per year until as a school we're satisfied with the sufficient amount we have.

 

Our wheelchair users and the vertically challenged love using them as opposed to the SMARTBoards because it offers freedom.

 

Touchscreens have, in my opinion, revolutionised the way in which lesson content is delivered. In the past teachers made little use of the SMARTBoards but the CTouch is used heavily throughout every subject.

 

Bottom line is get a few of them in as demo kits for a term and get your staff to use them as much as possible. When the trial period is almost coming to an end, send out a questionnaire to all staff and get them to fill it out based on a scale of 1-5 on each make. Ask questions such as: Ease of use, brightness, aesthetics etc. Present the findings to SMT and use this as evidence for your recommended touchscreen TV.

Some of those points are quite dubious: our Clevertouch are 10 point touch, driverless (and work perfectly on chromebooks,linux and osx) and have anti-glare, multiple VGA and HDMI and does freeze screen etc.

Perhaps so, @CyberNerd. However, for my school at the time, CTouch was well ahead of the game. The other makes, especially Genie, were rubbish and the drivers were hit and miss at the best of times.

 

If my memory serves me correctly, our CTouch TV screens come with 7 year warranty per screen. In addition they throw in their own equivalent of SMARTBoard software at no extra cost once you've registered your product details.

It was actually Genee who moved us to Clevertouch! After 4 boards were installed last year we had two failures, no so much of a problem I thought because of the 7 yr warranty. Unfortunately the installers were massively understaffed (it was just after summer, so I give them that) and it took an entire term before they were back up and running. The department were not impressed at all and neither were SLT, hence the move to clevertouch.

I was told by a School IT Tech (who had Clevertouch previously) They had to have 2 screen replaced due to the Touch going, he was without 2 screens for classrooms for 2 weeks, which upset the children & disrupted the lessons (moving classes etc) He also said that he couldn't transfer his resources from Smart to Linux on there.

 

We wanted the best software, and ease of install.

As a MSP, we only ever recommend CleverTouch now, largely due to being impressed with the software supplied, as well as the customer service from our re-seller/ installer. To date we've only needed two screens swapped out within a mixed procurement of circa 35 screens of various sizes/ models, one of which was due to a tiny burnt pixel.

 

I believe the CleverTouch screens now ship with 5-years warranty as standard.

We have had smart 4065, gene, vivid touch and c touch all on loan for a week with overlap. We eventually went with 2 c touch air and have been the most impressed with just how they work out of the box. The smart was nearly on a par but did have some issue on the demo. Gene we found awful the chap did the demo had problems and it wasn't just a one off as I had seen the demo a couple of times at different places. I asked about the warranty and he said we aim for nbd but this doesn't always happen can take 3 days or so.

That's really interesting, I'm glad you don't have many issues, maybe the few people I've spoken to were just unlucky. I'm just blown away with the support that we get from the Genee guys. A* service!

To be honest, from what i've seen they are all much the same, I don't think that was true in the early days. You'll see the same issues with laptop brands; some will swear blind a particular brand is the bees knees for support and others will just swear about them! After the initial hiccup with Genee they have proved quite reliable, but so have the clevertouch and the support has been better for us.

I ordered 2 Genee G-touch interactive screens for one of my schools about a fortnight ago. So far, so good everybody seems to be loving it!

 

the company we decided to purchase the boards from were much cheaper than others i had been quoted from, and gave a great service. I will definitely be using them for my future projects.

Can you mention who that is Zipsterr, I'm looking for 4 boards to replacing some aging Smart Whiteboard/projectors, we have 1 Interactive Smart screen but I am concerned they are overpriced for what they are so have been looking at the alternatives. I've had a guy chasing me form Interactive-Education for a no of years but we have never had the budget, they sell Gene screens but I simply don't know much about anything other than Smart. The staff don't use all the features so we might eb able persuade them to change if it's as good as others say.
