Chaps,

Anyone know a FREE easy password reset utility? Basically want the staff to minimise pupils being out of lessons so we want to try giving them a password utility, so need a utility where they will enter the username and just press a reset button. So something we can define the password to change too, and obviously force them change upon next login?

Does this make sense?

My IT teachers have access to Burconix Password reset on a network share and have delegated rights in AD to change the password. It is locked only to the students OU so they cannot reset staff passwords.

Does this require the IT teachers to type in a new password or just press reset. I am sure people will agree when I say I need this REALLY simple ha!

The teacher must type in a new password. I'd be questioning your teachers sanity (and degrees for legitimacy) if they cant manage that.

They can do it, but we just sued to have one that did what I said. On our old network, and we can't change the .exe to point to our new AD etc, or know how to in all honesty. Downlaoded your suggested tool, looks decent to be fair will have a play now and see if I can publish it through S***Trix, sorry I mean Citrix! Edited by elsiegee40

Why will people agree with you? Why does it need to be REALLY simple?

Clear and simple to use, you can check the user details against the AD record. Teachers love it.

CJWDEV Password reset tool.

Cjwdev | AD Account Reset Tool

Apologies for the necro.

I've looked in to setting this up - the only (major) issue I'm having is that when you search/browse for a user it's bringing up admin/tech/staff accounts. How would I go about restricting this tool the just student accounts?
