localzuk Posted July 3, 2015 Author Posted July 3, 2015 They have started too this year, We are in Cheshire. We are not live yet, in the proses of having it installed over the Summer. Interesting. I will make a note as something to look at in the new school year!
kennysarmy Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I rasied a call with RM about the internet issues and updated the call on Wednesday morning asking for someone to ring me with an update - guess what...
Edu-IT Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I rasied a call with RM about the internet issues and updated the call on Wednesday morning asking for someone to ring me with an update - guess what... You've been inundated with calls?
kennysarmy Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 We are still not back to the level of service we were getting a few months ago. Is everyone else still being affected by slow and intermittent problems?
localzuk Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 We are still not back to the level of service we were getting a few months ago. Is everyone else still being affected by slow and intermittent problems? We've not seen any here since they rolled out their patch for their proxies.
Steve21 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Seems to be running smooth here since the patches too (Although that could just be the fact their servers run nicer since restart haha) Steve
kennysarmy Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 The system returned: (110) Connection timed out The remote host or network may be down. Please try the request again. kennysarmy Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 It's the same for PC's going through the smoothwall and those going to our standard proxy.schoolname.gloucs.sch.uk Some sites fine - others really slow - then suddenly they will be fine for a while....
drdos256 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Seems better today but I would not say it's fixed - had reports of GMetrix not connecting at all for a class (unheard of as even when it was bad we would still get a few on), slow getting to sites etc... occasionally seems to be back to normal but then goes slow again...
kennysarmy Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Seems better today but I would not say it's fixed - had reports of GMetrix not connecting at all for a class (unheard of as even when it was bad we would still get a few on), slow getting to sites etc... occasionally seems to be back to normal but then goes slow again... Glad it's just not us then....
ITGURU Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Our Connection is with KCOM and they've had intermittent issues with their firewalls since last December, Apparently they've put any change requests on hold until they've got to the root of the problem. Filtering is with the local authority but that will change next year as moving services in house.
localzuk Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 SWGfL have just posted this:

Investigating

We are aware that customers are currently experiencing intermittent browsing performance. Engineers are now investigating the issue, there is currently no ETA to fix.

Jul 7, 09:07 BST

Which is convenient, as I've been again seeing dropouts this morning.
Steve21 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Investigating We are aware that customers are currently experiencing intermittent browsing performance. Engineers are now investigating the issue, there is currently no ETA to fix. Think we all know that Issues and no resolution time... Steve
Steve21 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Anyone having issues might want to check again if they still are: New Incident Status: Monitoring We have identified an issue with a core load balancer which was causing a performance problem. An emergency change has been applied to the load balancer to resolve the problem. Engineers continue to monitor the service closely. Steve
FragglePete Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Is anyone having issues with google and SSL this morning; I'm getting a certificate error when trying to use google.co.uk on the sslfilter.swgfl.org.uk proxy address. Is this related or different issue? Pete
localzuk Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 Not having that issue here. Have you tried going to RM SafetyNet - SSL Filtering Certificate Test to make sure the RM certificate is in place on the machines that are having the issue?
Steve21 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Is anyone having issues with google and SSL this morning; I'm getting a certificate error when trying to use google.co.uk on the sslfilter.swgfl.org.uk proxy address. Is this related or different issue? Pete Not having any here, I'm assuming that's a typo above or are you actually trying to use that address? (Missing the .proxy.) Steve
FragglePete Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Yes, done that; all reports ok. Just noticed it on a couple of machines at present so not sure what's going on. May try a restart first before I get jumpy. Nobody else has shouted.... yet. Pete
drdos256 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 The Internet has just gone slow again here .... pity .... as it was faster earlier ....
witch Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Couldn't access google.co.uk from IE - could from Chrome and Firefox Rang SWGfL - no problems that they know of - hang on, will go and ask... turns out to be a staffproxy issue. Take out the word "staff" and it works fine But why weren't the people on the phones told this?
kennysarmy Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 What's weird is the randomness of it... I am browsing fine around the BBC site but currently cannot get on flickr.com at all... This web page is not available ERR_TIMED_OUT then suddenly flickr.com is all OK!!!
jlucas Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I'm getting errors with Google again this morning. Secure Connection Failed You have received an invalid certificate Worked fine yesterday and has been all over the place this morning.
localzuk Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 I now only receive that error from Firefox (on all platforms) and Chrome on iPad, as neither use the built in certificate store.
Steve21 Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 New Incident Status: Resolved The patch has successfully resolved the issue that was initially detected. A small number of customers are still experiencing performance degradation, these will be investigated on an individual basis. Steve
localzuk Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 One thing I have been experiencing today - google searches not sending. I'll type in a search term and press enter, it'll then clear my search time from the URL, present me with a blank page and a generic google URL with all the usual attributes but no search term. Anyone else seen that?
