Windows 2008r2 AD and OFFICE 365

We are discussing here moving our pupils to office 365 so that EVERYONE is on one mail provider. Our staff All ready on o365

 

What do we need to link o365 to AD so that it syns users and passwords and creates email accounts etc for us.

 

I have alimited budget or are we best going with a compnay like iamcloud are there any other companies that provide this type of help and support.

 

We are a RM cc4.3 network with Windows 2008r2 servers

DirSync will synchronize the accounts in AD, but as far as I am aware you will need to assign licenses another way, either manually or via a powershell script.

 

When you install DirSync It will ask to do an Initial Sync but be carefull here as it will probably do the whole of AD. You can specify settings for what OU you want Sync'd within the DirSync application via the Configure Directory Partitions tab on the Active Directory Controller.

 

Microsoft have a dedicated team for this I think and are very helpful.

The basic version of Azure comes with 365. You will be using it to manage your existing users. You won't need to spend any more money.

All you need is the MS Directory Syncronisation Tool (DirSync). Nothing else. You set it up to sync every 12 hrs for example then a PShell script to assign licenses.
