The Outer Worlds never looked interesting to me. I mean it doesn't look bad but it just looks.. Eh.

Now Outer Wilds? With an I?

Oh yes. Very much my jam. I'm for the Epic Games bovine excrement to timeout and for it to hit Steam.

I've heard so many good things about that game. I regularly listen to the Giant Bombcast and they spoke highly of it.

I've been playing Gears 5 on the PC, hooked up to my TV in glorious 4K ultra settings. It looks amazing. I'm currently stuck at the end of Act II on the boss, it's winding me up. :(

Just finished Strange Brigade on PS4 (Single Player/Campaign). Fun, but I don't think I'd play it again. Like "Dead Island", this seems to be set up so that the single-player isn't the preferred mode and so dialogue in cut scenes refers to the whole team (though in Dead Island often the whole team were present in the scene - but not when I was getting swarmed).

Just started Concrete Genie, which is beautiful.

Bit of a moan: Why do all walk-throughs seem to be YouTube videos these days? (Apart from the ability to monetise the stream!) It makes it hard to find an answer if you get stuck/need clarification.

Finished Gears 5 over the weekend and enjoyed it.

Now I've started We Happy Few, however I'm playing it through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which I got 3 months for £1 back in November...and it expires on Sunday. I don't think I'm going to have time to finish this game. :(

I've just downloaded We Happy Few, I've always liked the look of it but read so many indifferent reviews, could never justify the price as even when it was reduced it only went as low as £25.

I used the game pass workaround over the weekend, where I stacked 2 years of gold (thank you CDKeys) and used my 1 month games pass trial to covert my 2 years subscription to games pass ultimate for £1. Just wish I hadn't wasted money buying Gears 5 outright in December now, the good news is that Two Point Hospital is also coming to Game Pass at the end of the month.

I remember when I saw the trailer for it - it looked so good and had a very Bioshock feel. However when it launced, it was plagued with bugs because they rushed the release. That just caused reviewers rate it poorly and put people off buying it. I'm hoping that they've all been ironed out now.

However I have noticed that I'm suffering from a frame rate issue/tearing issue. I have a 1080Ti and I'm hooked up to my 4K TV (which is the same setup I've just been playing Gears 5 at 4K on max settings at 60FPS). I have set the in-game setting to max and specified 30-60FPS for smoothness and VSync is enabled. However it just seems to stutter and tear with the framerate locked at around 30-40FPS. I'm guessing it's just not very well optimised.

No such issues for me as I'm playing on a Day One Xbox One, so 1080p is the max res for me. I have traditionally avoided first person games as they gave me headaches when I was younger, Skyrim and Bioshock didn't, but I can't seem to play We Happy Few for more than an hour without giving me some degree of room spin. I guess I will try to get through the story and leave it there, might take a long time though only playing an hour at a time!

well as im not at work today i completed the ff7r demo and its enough to confirm what i feared i wont be playing the full game. if you liked ff15 combat (and i hated that) you might be ok but while its great to look at and the music is good the combat isnt. For non boss fight mash square (sometime press triangle to switch combat styles between light and heavy) and you will win. Bosses are more complex and imo it gave a terrible example of how to use the controls it but that basically boiled down to mash square but target a specific part of the boss occasionally use magic and or items (which you can only use when a bar is full)and dodge with circle.

I really have lost faith in square to make good rpgs the last one of theirs i enjoyed was ff13.2 everything since has basically had combat that is either button mash (ff15) or dull (dq11 also on ps4 dire repetitive music)

Played the FFVII Remake demo and loved it.

summed it up nicely when he said you can feel the love as they crafted this game. Great graphics, voice acting, interesting tweaks to the story line, and the music, the music is perfect.

Yes, the combat isn't perfect, but neither was it in the original. It is much quicker to blast through the grunts though, and the boss battle was much improved over the original game. It seems to be taking some elements of FF13 and FF15, and I see some potential there for a good combat system.

I don't do much gaming, but installed Call of Duty Warzone. Because i'm bored and it's free. Feels like my graphics card finally wants replacing.

CPU: Ryzen 2600X

RAM: 16GB

GFX: GTX 1050 2GB

Weirdly the game runs Ok for a while (settings on low) then after a couple of rounds it starts to get choppy and fps crash. Maybe it's just buggy. Not sure where to go for a graphics card now i'm not up to date at all. I want the 8800GT of today!;)

Actually, since posting, A friend of mine has a RX480 4GB and is selling it me for a good price. For the gaming i do, that should tick over ok. I'll sell my 1050 on ebay, if i get £20 for it the RX480 will only cost me £30. I think that'll do ok for now.

Mate if you're selling a 1050 for £20 count me in :p

The Mrs needs a new GPU but her PC is super old. Plan is build her a new one at some point but for now it's just 'keep things ticking' lol

Sounds good to me, as long as you promise you haven't been crypto mining with it! :p

Let me know :)

Finished We Happy Few - I enjoyed the story for the most part, though it became a chore for me to play after a while. A lot of repetition in terms of types of tasks. It is obvious that the game was extremely rushed, with the most obvious being the massive repetition of NPCs. You can be walking down one street with say 20 people on it and there are only four NPC models, so there's multiple of the same old lady, young lady, young man, etc. It's a bit disappointing.

I also played and finished Metro Exodus. I quite liked it, however the story was meh. It's the weakest of the three for me and it didn't suit an open world game - it played much better as a linear game.

I have Borderlands 3, Control and The Master Chief Collection (so Halo Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved) on my list as next games to play. Other than that, I don't really have any more games. I did think about Doom Eternal, but I've heard so many bad things about it that I don't know if I can be arsed. Maybe if I've played and watched all the TV I have and I'm still in isolation.

Warzone is the first call of duty game I've played in about a decade and it's really good fun. It's basically PUBG with the most annoying aspects removed, a better combat system, less bugs and a more polished game all round. 150 players on a large map at once as well!

Would definitely recommend giving it a try

That's not something I thought I'd say about a Call of Duty game. I'm sure Blizzard Activision will be along to ruin it with loot boxes, season pass's and microtransactions before long though!

FFVII arrived a week early! :D

But I have a toddler, so TV time is severely limited...

Still, very much enjoying the 3-4 hours played so far. And the soundtrack is amazing, glad I bought deluxe version just for that!
