Web Editing - Brackets - brackets.io (open source + x platform)

Browsing - Firefox : mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/new/

Email: Airmail 2 (Mac App)

iPhone Movies etc: Waltr (Mac App)

 

Anything cool you guys are using?

IE, Chrome, MS Office and RDP has got to be the bulk of it for me really. How boring! ha ha

At work, all in order of decreasing use :

Browser - Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, IE, Seamonkey - the latter lets me get around all that pesky web filtering

Email - Outlook, OWA - we have no choice

Office - OpenOffice, M$ Office - I do 95% of my documents in OO

Web dev - Notepad+, vi under cygwin, notepad

 

At home :

Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Konqueror

Thunderbird

OpenOffice

KEdit, vi

Currently I have the following open:

 

Chrome (about 15 - 20 tabs on average), RDP Client, MMC for RSAT, Impero, Excel (not used much usually), Powershell (2 consoles and 1 ISE), various explorer windows, Email in OWA as Outlook has screwed up it's own install and I haven't bothered reinstalling.

 

I also use Notepad++, Putty and some other applications on occasion but not often enough to have them open all the time.

I too love brackets! Browsing would have to be Chrome which then provides my Emails, etc.

SSH client: Putty

VLE: Moodle

Thin client base OS: Debian

Lots more open source on that side of things!

do you somehow think I have embraced open source. The benefits of sharing knowledge with your peers is an excellent way to collaborate :0

Excel (not used much usually)

I use Excel for everything I can think of - including formatting e-mails (joking). It's the most flexible and useful program, especially for formatting. A lot of jobs I could use Word or Notepad for are just easier in Excel.

I used to use it a lot more than I do now, just don't have much need for it anymore as I rarely have to deal with data or the like in a raw format often. We've got a data team who deal with Excel a lot more and have all their marksheets etc set up in the format staff use and people go to them with their problems. We still get the odd question about it or problems I need to use excel to deal with but it's very rare. Even viewing csv files I'm more likely to just use one of the powershell prompts I have and Import-Csv and view it that way.
