StevieM Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I've tried Amazon prime movies, couldn't find much that didn't require an extra purchase. Also tried love film, but I watch far more series than films and found this to be lacking... Lovefilm is now Amazon Prime - Pretty much the reason I cancelled my subscription.
pooley Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Netflix here along with youtube for additional programs for the kids. Ditched sky about 6 months ago, do miss the PVR but everyone has got used to the current Sat box and its inability to record 2 channels etc. There is so much available "on demand" that recording programs is a bit pointless. Plus I have a Plex server running that give's me a few more streaming options. I have a roku 3 box and chromecasts in various tv's. 2 of my tv's have no aerial attached so they only get streamed or dvd content.
rickjames Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Currently Sky with Sports package, Netflix, NHL Gamecenter for hockey and use Unblock.US to deal with geo stuff (prefer watching stuff on the Xbox) Sorted out my RPi with Kodi and the NBCSN addon to watch that stuff on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm, a buffer or two aside it's getting more tempting to can Sky altogether, even more now Champions League is moving to BT.
TechMonkey Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Netflix with Unblock.US for trawling the globe. Then freeview with copious amounts of iPlayer and 4oD and a tiny bit of newsgroup usage for those things that seem to take ages to come out.
Nibiru Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 None - you dont think about streaming your entertainment when your bb tops out at 2.5 meg! We don have Sky's entertainment package though (base pack - no sports or movies)
mattianuk Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Netflix and free view, considering now TV. All through apple TV
Domo Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) I'm paying for netlifx and that's it... i don't use a TV anymore as well... if i want to watch something i can find it somewhere online Edit - i'm sort of on and off with crunchyroll at the moment, last thing i watched on there was like episode 270 something of naruto Shippuden, and staying up till 6am binge watching Naruto is not a good thing to do. xD Edited March 27, 2015 by Domo
CHR1S Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I'm falling out of love with my Tivo (I take it you have a Virgin Tivo too?) now. It's got very slow and painful to use at times, even coming fully out of standby to use menu's can take the best part of a minute. Oh? Something wrong with your box/connection perhaps? Ours is pretty snappy (yeah VM Tivo). My 1Tb TiVo is awful, slow, sluggish ergh.... I'm a lazy viewer, I stick something on in the background and just leave it. I have netflix on the TiVo, sloooooow, and only watch the odd film or Better Call Saul. I have a full Kodi setup from my media server for my "backed up" dvd's/blurays and the odd bit of 3pm saturday viewing. Reality is its, pointless/the chase then Hollyoaks then Eastenders then whatever random benefits program is on that night.
Edu-IT Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Sky are hiking their prices again. Time to start exploring other services! http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/utilities/2015/03/sky-tv-customers-to-be-hit-with-price-hikes
garethEds Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Sky are hiking their prices again. Time to start exploring other services! Sky TV customers to be hit with price - Money Saving Expert We received our letter today telling us there would be an increase of £3.00 on top of our monthly. So I'm now in the process of convincing Mrs E that our Kodi box is the way forward. I find it brilliant, but she doesn't like the hassle and finds Sky a better interface (which is why we pay for it I guess). I'll be checking out package this week and any contracts I'm in and then cancelling. GJE
mdench Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Netflix and various movies etc from my Plex server. Any one with BT youview box? Tempted to get one bundled with our BT infinity
sted Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Netflix and various movies etc from my Plex server. Any one with BT youview box? Tempted to get one bundled with our BT infinity yes it generally works but im on my second box the 1st one decided to not record certain programs constantly. Just be aware its a slow box if you dont put it in max power save mode it lasts about a week before it starts crashing or not recording things. if you do you can make a sandwhich in the time it takes to boot up and be usable and there is enough lag between pressing play on a recording and it starting for you to think did i push the button
