I'm very upset. He's my favorite author and the fact I'll never again be able to buy a new book by him is going to take some getting used to. I have all of his books going back to Pyramids in first editions. RIP Terry, thanks for all the good times :( Edited by Dos_Box

Even though I knew he was ill, this still somehow came as a shock - really enjoyed the Discworld series and before I got in to those I loved the Johnny Maxwell trilogy.

A sad loss :(

This is the very saddest of days.

Easily my favourite author, both the greatest satirist and the greatest storyteller of a generation.

As @Dos_Box says, knowing there'll never be another Discworld is a very strange (possibly turtle-shaped) sort of hole to suddenly have in my life. They have been a constant in my life; it wasn't Christmas if I didn't vanish for a day and a half after unwrapping the new Discworld book, re-appearing only once finished to open the rest of my presents.

I think I'll read a little more of Truckers to my boys tonight at bedtime than I need to, not for them to fall asleep, but for me to say goodbye.

I'm going to re-read Pyramids, it was the first book of his I ever read and though it wasn't as good as many of his other book it got me started on them and I've never found another author who'd writing got me hooked in the same way.

:( Mort was the first one I ever read and he is by far my favourite author. I think I've got every book he did, including the old 'Strata', 'Dark side of the Sun' and the more recent 'The world of poo'

I will miss his books greatly

I do wonder whether he did take the assisted dying option

From the article:

Despite campaigning for assisted suicide after his diagnosis, Sir Terry's publishers said he did not take his own life.

Pyramids has always been my favourite.

Gutted.. absolutely gutted :(

By far one of the best authors for a long time.

Only just started reading Raising Steam. And now I don't want to finish it too soon :(

AT LAST, SIR TERRY, WE MUST WALK TOGETHER
