And well it's released today. But I can upgrade on Thursday so maybe the weekend I'm gonna pop into phone shop. Get her the new phone and I'll have hers. And we will spend some time sorting then out. The reason I didn't have the new one ( as it was my upgrade) is because the MRS looks after her phones better than I do. So I don't want to have that and drop it straight away! She looks after it so I don't mind. Quite looking forward to the M8 because from the M7 it's quite a difference! 😃👌

My number isn't switching over till tomorrow, so I've spent all day today setting up the 5.5" O+O and going back to the 4.7" Nexus4 to text the missus (who is still talking to me ). Every time I pick it up now it feels like a child's phone, despite being plenty big enough - I remember it seeming enormous two years ago. God alone knows how you feel coming from an iPhone @Gardinho, what model did you have before? Though even the 5s was only 4" so the O+O must just be massive to you. I'm stopping now before I let any accidental euphemisms slip. 1

I'm stopping now before I let any accidental euphemisms slip. Air plane mode is a good fix for it. But I just tend to leave it because I can get started straight away. Don't have to wait for everything to reconnect. Because with my HTC it cuts of WIFi and other stuff after so long of been inactive, which is great. Just turns it all off and then when I turn screen on it all comes to life.

It still looks box new! Get one of those tampered glass screen protectors. Brilliant.

Xeba37 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Attempt 2 of receiving a working phone, successful.....I think. still getting used to Android but tbh it seems like it has the same features as iOS and more so I will probably love it when I get my head around it. Still no charger (O2 say that their refurbished phones come with a minimum of a charger) although they swear they have posted one out to me....yes I have a spare cable I can use at home but that is not the point, O2 have really disappointed this time. Looking forward to testing out the camera on my holibobs next week

I am really liking it so far, was regretting it a bit at first and worrying that it wasn't enough of an upgrade, that I hadn't needed to spend the money... but having spent most of yesterday on it, going back to the N4 does feel like a real backward step. I am happy Spending absolutely ages tweaking everything. Got my coloured LED notifications set up, still working on getting the brightness levels tweaked to how I like (I prefer my phone a bit dimmer than default so it's easier going on my eyes and the battery). Just about got my widgets sorted - Nova Launcher is a good 'un, and settled on DigiCal as a calendar widget. The biggest problem now is choosing which game soundtracks I should download from Video Game Music at Galbadia Hotel for ringtones EDIT: oh, and my signal on the EE network through BT is much, much better than it ever was on o2. The BT app (for usage etc.) is surprisingly good as well - figures are accurate as of a minute ago, near as damn be real-time, and match what Android itself is telling me. Where do you configure the colour LEDs? 2 decent apps for managing and utilising battery life: Fast Reboot (frees up RAM without rebooting phone) GSam Battery Monitor

Settings > Display & lights > Notification Light > click the + button and start adding apps, then choose your colour, length & speed of repetition. Having problems with battery life at the moment because of the Google Services bug - it's showing as something like 30% of my battery use, far and away the biggest drain. I've tried blocking Google Play Services from Keep Awake and Wake Up using Privacy Guard, but overnight my phone only charged to 54% so obviously it hasn't fixed it yet. Need to try Gservicefix but that requires my battery to be at 100% 1

Does anyone know how I can set notifications on an Xperia Z3 to pop up when I have a Facebook Message preferably just showing the sender not the message). I have enabled notifications for messages in both Facebook itself and Messenger (including when the screen is off) but it is not popping up or giving any sort of notification when the screen is off. It is however in my notifications bar, with a preview of the message (which I don't really want) and I get a bubble with a pic of the person I am chatting to when I unlock the phone. I could do this easily on iPhone, but I can't find it on the Xperia after an hour or so of pondering and googling I am non the wiser. I can get this to work on Whatsapp although it shows the message which is not ideal when my phone usually sits on my desk; I don't want everyone reading my stuff! #Firstworldproblems. Edit. I can't remember the setting exactly - my Lollipop Nexus 4 is at home, and I only have my KitKat O+O on me right now - but you can set notifications to Private, which should then show you, on the lock screen, what apps have a notification, but no other details. No, Sony have not yet released the Lollipop update, well actually they are supposed to release it today I have just read! But it has not sent me a notification to download it yet. I hope there is a way, you could do that on the iPhone, it was a good feature. Overall, I think Android has more functionality than iOS but this is one thing I will miss if it is not available.

Works as is, but also has options for root and/or Xposed module which makes the app even more powerful. The OPO's battery is pretty good anyway, but every little helps. 1

Mirrored... ... swiping away apps from recent tasks frequently is not a good practice, since it reduces the efficiency of process cache mechanism in Android, thus impact the performance of your device. Swiping away apps from recent tasks kills the process of those apps, thus prevent them from being cached in memory. When you launch them later, it takes longer time and much more CPU cycles to create the process and re-initialize the app runtime. If you don't do that, it generally saves your time and battery, though not so much. Clearing recent tasks does free much memory, at the expense of later performance and battery consumption for launching those apps again. So if you have a device with 2GB RAM, it gains no benefits in practice. If you heavily depend on the recent tasks list for frequent task switching, then you may prefer to swipe away the unwanted tasks to make task switching easier and clearer. TL;DR. Swipe away only the apps you don't use frequently. I think this is directed at people who clear recent apps religiously, like right after using any app. Edited April 2, 2015 by Arthur
