My team and I have been working on OxygenOS for the past several months. It was our sincere hope to release the result of our hard work to all of you today. Unfortunately, we were unable to meet this date and we are as disappointed as you are. On behalf of myself and my team, I would like to apologize for this wait. The ROM is fully functional and we have quite a few people in the office running it on their own devices without any issues. The delay is caused by extra quality control. We want to make sure that OxygenOS passes Google certification, that all future updates can be OTA'ed properly, and that users from all over the world are able to use OxygenOS in the language of their choice. We know you've been waiting for a long time, and we owe you answers. So, until OxygenOS is officially released, we will share our progress with you. Every day, no matter how big or small the news is, this post will be updated with information in order to give you more visibility into the process. As for a release date, we will release as soon as we feel that it’s good enough for you and it will be very soon. Most of you are probably also wondering when CM12 will be available. While we don’t have a lot of influence over CM’s release schedule nor development progress, we’ve been providing resources and scheduling test cycles to help with this last stretch. Together, we’re working to deliver CM12 to you as soon as possible. As promised, if either of the Lollipop deadlines were broken, we are going to give away five free 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus Ones at random to the forum members who responded in the thread. It is taking a long time to get this set up the way I'm used to - apps, homescreen etc. - but I'm liking just how tweakable everything is. And there's so many common sense tweaks! Showing the battery percentage, showing me how many messages I have in the icon, showing me all the volume sliders so I can turn music down before I start playing it... I just hope they hurry up with CM12S!

On top of the what CM gives you in terms of customising, Nova gives you even more options to tailor your phone to look and do exactly as you want. Think there's a free version too. 2

Long-press on the (default) home screen and you get a nice bunch of settings, which includes the option to increase your grid size. I had mine at 5x6, I think it was. 2

I had mine at 5x6, I think it was. Huh, so it does. They were all hidden out the way, had to swipe up on the settings so hadn't spotted them yet. Cheers! Will see how I get on with Trebuchet (and how much I miss saying "Ok Google"), and if it doesn't work for me I might have to look at Nova. It's worth a few quid on apps to get it working right.

sonofsanta Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Ok, Nova Launcher is good. Just need to get used to my home screen being in the middle again, not on the left as in Google Now. It's a bit weird about widget resizing, even if I disable its override control - the BBC News widget, for example, just keeps zooming in, instead of showing two stories side by side (as I had it on my N4), but I'll work it out. Tell you what, though, just compared a photo side by side on my N4 and O+O, and the colour accuracy on the O+O is fantastic. The N4 is green and lacking in contrast; skin tones on the O+O are much, much better.

I feel like a prat saying it, but it's really handy when I'm in the kitchen cooking and need to set timers or alarms. Also far quicker Googling something by asking rather than typing. Admittedly this usually only happens at home in front of the TV.

You can change this too. In your Nova settings, go to Desktop and Home Screens, Hold your finger on the green tick and drag it to the screen you want as the home screen. 1

Garacesh Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 (edited) I just open the clock app and set a timer it's not difficult. As for my home screen, I'm much more accustomed to 'folders'. System apps (such as settings, file explorer, wifi analyser etc) go in the top-left, Games go in the top right, Common apps (calendar, clock, calculator, camera, gallery) go in the bottom right, and communication (hangouts, whatsapp, contact list, zello etc) go in the bottom right. From LTR on the bottom bar I have Phone Call, Text Messaging, App Drawer/Menu, Google Play and finally Chrome. And in the middle of all that I have a (usually) 4x2 clock Everything fits on one screen, just the way I like it. It's very uncommon I ever have to open the app drawer. You're all tempting me to buy another oneplus (or more likely order another replacement screen and give a second go).. Grrrr. xD but I shall resist. I have home & work email inboxes, calendar, weather, news & Flipboard widgets, then various app shortcuts dotted around them. I like being able to glance at information without going into an app. This is why I like Android. We can all set it up in precisely the way we like it. This is like having to set Firefox up again after a fresh install*, except ten times more work. *because I always, always forget to back up my profile first. You'd think I'd learn.
Garacesh Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Completely the opposite. Whilst I do have email on my phone, I like my phone to go off as little as possible. My mantra is "Unless somebody is actively trying to contact me, sit there and shut up."
fiza Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 My 1+1 Bluetooth has suddenly started playing up. It used to connect fine to my cars head unit until a few days ago. Now it is hit and miss. Not sure if its the head unit playing up or the phone.

It's interesting hearing all your different preferences, the beauty of Android! I like the minimalist approach. I have one home screen with only a few essential apps in folders (5 across), and a small clock widget. Everything else in the app draw. Google services etc. And been on standby too. I knows sounds daft but you get used to how the battery runs. I fully utilise android. Notification for email, sms, fb, everything important! Not just the notifications the software and setting options are brilliant. I've currently got my music widget on my front screen with folders of all my favourite apps. Easy as 123. Pop into my setting change my theme (HTC) so my quick settings are coloured. And also the way to catch up on things in the quick slide to the left (BlinkFeed) HTC version of flipboard. Catch up on everything. I will never turn to Apple 1
ConnorByrne Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Also WiFi and NFC Mobile data been on has an effect on the battery. So Many apps have a background process. Some phones allow you to clear up the ram. To save a bit of power too.
