The 3rd Edition Codex that was around for over a decade! It was quite a mess and soooo out of date, then the new and cooler models came and revamped them.

Regarding the Ld boost, I face a lot of Fear causing units like Daemons so I tend to add squad leaders by default for that +1Ld but also for Haywire Grenades that are sooo useful (zapped a Land Raider with a Hekatrix last game). Unfortunately the phantasm grenade launchers don't work on Fearless models and Space Marines which are my two most common opponents! Also, 5 Warriors in a Venom with Blaster and Haywire = insane firepower when you pair squads up.

I do love the DE vehicles.. Such unbelievable fun. It's a shame I just don't play anymore. I don't drive, and am not keen on lugging my cases onto the bus. It's only a 20-30 minute journey to my local FLGS but the cases are cumbersome and being on a bus just makes it worse. And the store is pretty small, too. So unless I want an hour's journey into the centre of Manchester.. Blah.

I use a KR Case. It's a rucksack with a rigid cardboard box and foam inserts. Very good, comfortable and easy to transport. :)

And I need to buy a new graphics card! :p

I'll probably just try selling my DE on The Dark City (probably 'nids too) or eBay if I don't get any takers here. But I figure, being a professional forum and all, people here are less likely to jerk me around. Had bad experiences selling W40k over forums a few years back when I lost my job and needed cash.

wow you have a lot of stuff to shift!!!

There is also a great Facebook group and you'd shift them in no time.

Do any of you play Warmahordes i'm looking for midlands opponents.....and struggling.

I'd like to run some steamroller events, but need to get enough interested folks together.

I just finished painting 2 lots of 35pts armies for trolls and am working up to 50pts as well as working on a new cryx force:

I have 10 gaming tables and a free place to game from so just need gamers to play against!

Why yes, yes I do. And that's not even all of it! I've had 2 Dark Eldar armies, one of which was sold when I was in a bit of a financial bother..

Edit: @Leeoakley, can I get a link to that facebook group please? :)

I've often entertained the idea of ditching GW and going with a different tabletop wargame because realistically GW's prices were always bad, but the quality of the models made it somewhat worthwhile.. But now with all the codices, supplementary codices, new rules every year, it just feels like it's really getting into the realm of 'let's milk them for all we can' and I'm starting to get a little sick of it, personally. Which is a shame, because they've worked hard at generating lots of lore and stuff that's really in-depth and interesting, if you're interested in that kind of stuff, so the Warhammer universe is way bigger than any other game.. But I'm just really put off them.

But the thing is.. Nobody else plays anything else :( Except Clicker Heroes, apparently.. But no thanks :p

My gaming group is primarily Lord of the Rings with a bit of 40k. X-Wing is a very popular alternative game though and Malifaux is worth a look (cheap too!). Also keep at least one 40k army as you can still play the game but for free as you already have the kit. DE is a rather stable army that doesn't get updated often, only three times since 1998. :)

Thanks! I'll take a look at both of those :) If all else fails, there's always eBay, though I suspect I'll only get about 20% retail for them there.. Without trying to sound greedy, I've kept them all in good condition. Besides a few finecast models having a few bends (the curse of resin..) they're all in excellent nick and worth more than I'd get on eBay.

There's also /r/minitrade or /r/trademinis or whatever the subreddit is, where people often sell off collections. So my options are open :)

I have joined a 40k league in Coulsdon! :D

Taking 1000pts of Wych Cult to Surrey Spartans. They will likely get trounced but I am going for the fluff instead of the points. And showing off...

The Voidraven and the Wracks (joined with another five of my own) saw some brief action last night. 3000pts Daemonkin v 2x1500pts DE+CSM. Sadly we ran out of time so only got to the end of turn two (there was that many models!).

Voidraven managed to wing a Land Raider knocking off it's Heavy Bolter and vaporised....one Khorne Bezerker. The Wracks fared better wounding one demon dog with the Ossefactors and tying them up losing only a handful of models, would have massacred them had they not succumbed to fear.

The Ossefactor can be absolutely brutal if you get the explosion proc off :D 5 wracks in a venom with 2 splinter cannons made an awesome anti-infantry unity. Drop anything you can with pew-pew, and if the venom gets blown up, everyone bolt out the back and hit the few units left in the face until they're not moving anymore :)

Wracks are just awesome. It's nice that they can take the hexrifle, but it sort of ruins the unit as a whole if you do.

Played a 2500 point game yesterday consisting of my Chaos and Orks vs my housemate's Space Marines. My first proper game since getting back into 40k.

His army is pretty "heavy weapons" oriented, and mine is a giant horde. I fielded a good 200 figures, he had about 50. I was absolutely annihilated. :D I was basically removing men with a shovel.

So, I now have some ideas to get some heavies in my army!

Things I learned:

Devastator Centurions are annoying to fight when you're a horde.

I like bikes. They're pretty tough and quick.

Gretchin can do a surprising amount of damage!

Raiders can always get units into CC by turn 2 which really helps locking down those heavy weapons if they're being carried. A few dark lances will make light work of vehicles but don't put them in a unit of Kabalite Warriors else you're wasting all the poison shots. Haywire blasters or grenades also work fantastically but the blasters are few and far between and getting grenades into range can be a bit of a bother.

He plays Chaos and Orks, not DE. ;)

Orks you decide do you want the Boyz to go close combat or shooty and stick with it. Either way you will need BIG numbers so even if your opponent removes a mob of Orks there is another one not far behind. They are meant to die in droves. Footsloggers will want a Big Mek with force field, lots of grots in front as a meatshield and maybe some Ard Boyz (but not too many, they get expensive).

Add in stuff that goes boom as support. Flash Gitz in a Battlewagon are also horrendously frightening!

Any tips with Chaos? Orks are kinda my secondary at the moment, so not really put much effort into building them as an army (I've got 30 boyz, 10 nobz, a deffkopter, 2 killa kans and 20 gretchin with 2 runtherders, oh and a Warboss - all second hand).

Swish :D I hope none of it's damaged.. The (bitzy) objective markers felt like they might suffer a bit of damage 'cause of the long, thin plastic, but I did my best to wrap them up nice-like.

They are like Space Marines but more awesome. Which legion did you pick?
