Garacesh Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 So much of my Dark Eldar is unpainted right now Significantly less so with my 'nids, but still some. Now that the days are getting lighter I should be able to paint some more.. I just can't find myself able to paint by light that isn't natural.
Pottsey Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 @Pottsey wrap up warmish. Its an old church. 1250 points sounds perfect I usually play around 7 but whatever time suits you as long as its after 5 Will be there 7ish. Looking forward to it, just hope I can remember enough rules.
thepridster Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 don't worry well take a steady game if that's ok with you run through them together I never use vehicles so those rules always evade me
localzuk Posted March 16, 2015 Author Posted March 16, 2015 My housemate just bought 2 750 point armies from someone for £30, including case, scenery, bits, codecs etc... Only problem with it is that they are terribly painted, so the Dettol will be in use I think!
Garacesh Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 DO NOT USE BROWN DETTOL ON FINECAST FIGURES. I hear many reports of it not going so well. But I can say from experience that you're good to use it on plastic or metal. Saved my butt multiple times.

thepridster Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Highly Recommend Fairy powerspray! that stuff works a treat and very quickly too
Garacesh Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) Just thought I'd throw it out there. Had a friend ask me about repainting, so I told him the ol' Dettol trick. The bit he failed to mention was that it was finecast figures *facepalm* cue his HQ becoming an amorphous blob. Deeeerrrrrrrppp. Urgh, off the top of my head.. I have so much to paint. 15(ish) warriors 20 Wyches 9 Incubi (Already painted Drazhar/Klaivex) 1x Archon 2x Sslyth 2x Medusae 6x Harlequins (Possibly 7) 1x each Harlequin special unit (Solitaire and.... the other two) 2x Raider 1x Ravager 2x Venom 5x Wracks Edit 1: 1x Voidraven Bomber Edit 1: 1x ... the other jet-looking thing Edit 2: 10x Scourge BLAAAHHHH Edited March 16, 2015 by Garacesh
localzuk Posted March 16, 2015 Author Posted March 16, 2015 I've got everything from Dark Vengeance, plus an extra set of Chaos cultists, 20 Ork Boyz, 10 Ork Nobz, 40 Gretchen, 2 Grotherders, 2 Killa Kans, 1 Dethkopta and a pileof other stuff to paint. Should keep me busy for a while! Oh, and I've gotta make myself a board (going to make a modular one out of modelling foam).
halbaradkenafin Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 My painting list isn't as bad: 20 Skaven (8 just main bodies with arms painted when needed). Eldar Farseer (testing blending techniques on the cloaks). Dark Eldar Homonculus Inquisitor with Thunder Hammer 10 Salamander Sternguard (might just have scaled cloaks to finish and details on weapons I think) 2 Menoth Warcasters (Kreoss and another who's name escapes me at the moment) Box of Menoth troops (Errants of some form I think) Malifaux gang Most of the Chaos Marines from the box set that had them and some Dark Angels in (no idea the name of it as I bought them ages ago). I'll probably end up buying some other random characters and small units over the next few months as I find new things to paint, already got my sights set on the Lord of Pestilence from Avatars of War and doing a nurgle style paint scheme on it.
Garacesh Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Ooh, whoops, forgot to mention the Voidraven and the other flyer that I have which name escapes me. Need to paint up those, too.
CAM Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I have.....way too much. Need to shift it tbh! Anyone want some Orks, Guard or Space Marines? Also I tried the Fairy Powerspray trick but it didn't seem to work. I sprayed it, left it then scrubbed with a cheap toothbrush. :/
thepridster Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 There is two types flying about I think I got the right stuff as it stripped a really badly undercoated thunder hawk for me person hadn't washed it before spraying madman.....

Also added my 10 scourges to the list.. Arrrgh my list just keeps growing D:
localzuk Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 So, as I'm figuring this out more and more, I've now got my roster set up for my current Chaos Army (well, what it will be once I've got a biker champion). One thing I've noticed with some rules is the need for markers. For example, I'm going to need some Crazed markers. What do people here use?
ICTDirect_Dave Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 So, as I'm figuring this out more and more, I've now got my roster set up for my current Chaos Army (well, what it will be once I've got a biker champion). One thing I've noticed with some rules is the need for markers. For example, I'm going to need some Crazed markers. What do people here use? Markers are usually easy enough to get hold of. When I played Magic regularly I'd either use small six sided dice as +1/+1 counters or glass beads. Either could be small enough to fit on a miniature's base too.
Ghostgame Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Most people use dice as markers with the number on dice showing how many markers are on a unit. That will be my plan when I finally get round to fielding my Tau. Probably get some unique coloured dice to indicate marker lights. You can pay through the nose from GW for special themed markers.
thepridster Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Alternatively if you know anyone with a lasercutter they can be made in next to no time! that's what I plan to do
halbaradkenafin Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Privateer Press make some token sets for Warmachine that could be easily adapted for this, they come in a variety of colours and you can write on them with dry wipe markers.
Ghostgame Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Go to any Games Workshop. The staff will happily teach you how to play and if you want to collect, advise you on what to collect.
CAM Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Look up your local gaming club too, they'll gladly give you an intro and recommendations on where to start without wanting you to buy stuff! Has anyone seen the new Eldar leaks yet? Seems to have started a bit of drama amongst the playerbase beyond the usual '$Army is OP' rhetoric. They forget the Eldar contain units that are really powerful but expensive and good at one or a small handful of things but need to work in concert with everything else to succeed. D-Weapons were upgraded to Destroyer weapons with -1 on the destroyer table (so no result of a six and a 1-2 is a fail) and Strength 4 for Instant Death purposes. Also the Wraithknight is a Lord of War and a Gargantuan Creature with a Jetpack and two Strength D cannons now. Wave Serpent Shields got toned down a bit as well (one use only now).
thepridster Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 It seems to be different this time so much rage and dummy throwing and the books not even here yet... I dunno ill continue to play what i like and rely on players to let me know what kind of game they want to play. Id sooner if i'm to play competitively or just messing about. I thinks its this is where a lot of the problem lie. You get a super competitive player playing totally fun player. Where as a little communication before a game can help stop this and also allow players to adjust and bring a list well suited to each other.
CAM Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) I'm planning on buying a Wraithknight for friendly games anyway and allying it to my Dark Eldar force as a large Castigator, I just want a big robot battle in the middle of the table against my friends' Stompa or Lord of Skulls. Eldar Path Series Spoiler! Path of the Archon has Wraithguard with captured Eldar soulstones stored within Commorragh. Their senses are modified so the noble soldier or terrified civilian entombed within the construct thinks they are fighting to protect their Craftworld or family. They are actually murdering anyone and anything that gets too close to the Castigator, even Vect's own forces!). EDIT - What's the spoiler tag? Edited April 23, 2015 by CAM
localzuk Posted April 23, 2015 Author Posted April 23, 2015 My housemate has just bought a Stormraven and 2 Stormtalons for £50 on ebay. Gonna have to buy some anti-air stuff now to deal with them! Couple of Chaos Heldrakes and some Obliterators seem to be the suggestions I've seen online!
