Honestly, I would consider joining a corp like the ones you've all mentioned. But the last one I applied to was ridiculous. Just to join you had to have NO contact with none corp members. You couldn't do ANYTHING without asking permissions, had to fly a set ship/loadout/at set times. It was basically just ME playing but them deciding WHAT I did whilst I was online. I enjoy floating around with whoever logs in that night from here and just probing stuff randomly. I don't want a huge time commitment and be surrounded by people who try to be overly controlling.

EDIT: I should add that whilst I like the concept of PvPing, it isn't my only goal for EVE. I also love exploration and just floating around gawping at bigger ships. However, if one of these corps don't mind me hanging around with you guys when you're on/if you're in one that's allied with these corps. I'd certainly be more inclined towards applying for it - provided they don't mind me aimlessly floating.

As for the drone sites, not sure on if its changed but all the isk there used to be salvage for minerals, salvaging isn't as profitable as it used to be. If you kill NPC ships they have "bounty's" on them that can add up along with the loot. Since you are using probes now, once you train up combat probes you can probe down mission runners and ninja salvage their loot if you are feeling evil :p

That used to be a lot of fun to do but I think it's been pretty heavily nerfed with the criminal system update (and the safety system ruined the fun of ganking mission runners for shiny loot)

Many corps/alliances will usually recommend certain ships for their fleet ops, mostly so they can replace them if you lose it, but won't require it unless it's a major op. If they are being really strict about what you can or can't do during the rest of your time then you don't want to be with them. Some do say things like "don't go to high sec during wars" or such but usually put stuff in place to work around that.

That sounds awful. I looked into BRAVE's application and it's nothing like that. You just need to use the EVE API to confirm your account and schlep off an application form online, then sit back and wait.

/r/bravenewbies will probably hold some advice if you want to look. I'm subscribed there just to see all the fun things that happen lol

Edit: A lot of corps, I'd assume would say "Use this loadout if you can" for inventory/replacement purposes, I guess, as mentioned above, but also probably because it's 'tried and tested'. Throughout lots of fleet ops, certain ship fittings may have proven themselves to be more optimal or useful than others.. Though a corp that demands seems a bit excessive.

One of the issues you would have is politics with joining a null sec alliance.

Imp are a NBSI(Not blue?, shoot it) alliance like most other null sec entities, the problem would be if we went on a npsi (not purple?, shoot it) roam for fun and bumped into some of my coalition members they would blow you up and i wouldn't be able to help.

If you want lots of PVP with no real rules then you could join a faction warfare corp. Laz's newbie Tuesday streams might be worth a watch

Blue? Purple? Elaborate?

I noticed BRAVE's "We seriously recommend you modify your UI to $Settings" has lots of purple flags, but I didn't make the changes. Just looked into it. Can you have corps/alliances/etc in colour or..? Confus'd!

Or RVB is an option, I think they are still going strong and easy for just diving in and out of corp without worrying about it too much or hitting your faction standings (though I think they only get hit if you kill NPCs, I'm not sure I've never done FW before).

Blue is for Corp and Alliance mates, they show up blue (or green) on the default overview settings. Purple is fleetmates on the overview settings.

That explains why all the fleet/battle screenshots have a buttload of purple. Thanks :)

This all seems very, very complex politically. I imagine the rewards are good, but it seems like a big risk joining a corp. Especially since I'm a special kind of noob, I only fly Caldari (for combat) and missiles are my best friend. I don't mind people making recommendations but I hate being forced into something without consenting to the fact I'm eventually going to be forced into it. Being a Lone Newb in a big wide space seems ever more acceptable. :p

UNITAS and the entire BRAVE collective have official doctrines for ships however you don't really need to follow them.

If you want more info on BRAVE then look at their wiki.

Basically, use clones to jump either down to null sec or up to high sec. It's not a big risk at all considering they usually pay for your tackler.

you can set standings with people and corps\alliances.

these can be anywhere from -10 to +10

+5 and above are "blue" so I am in the alliance "The Bastion" we are part of the imperium so we have all other imperium members set to +10 alliance standings so on our overview they show up as blue, people with no standings are gray, people with bad standings are red, people in your gang no matter what standings they have are purple, corp mates are green.

So you basically set up your overview settings to hide anyone who is blue, green or purple. When you get into a fight there is only your targets in overview so no miss clicking or friendly fire. NRDS (Not red?, don't shoot) alliances like those in provi wont kill neuts, but if you annoy them they will add you to the red list (negative standings) and you will be fair game.

Most people use the SaraShawa overview, you can join a channel in game to set it up and it will by default hide purple/blue/green. I have my tabs set up so i can toggle between friendly only and enemy only settings in case i am flying logi or need to see what my fleet is doing. SaraShawa Overview Pack : Eve

I sent an application to KarmaFleet since they had a nice application process. If I don't make it in, then I'll fly solo forever. Until I become the CEO of space.

EDIT: I was accepted into KarmaFleet. Now to do the hundreds of tasks I have to complete to prove I'm not a spy. -.-'

It was all going so well.. Found C2 wspace, completely unoccupied, plenty of planets for PI! (the type of wspace that people pay 500 million just to know the routes of!).

Went to deploy the POS.. "Your corporation must be at least 7 days old in order to anchor."

I forgot about that. Damn.

Could do, more than likely just going to sell the information on the EVE forums though. I'll always find another one :p I've got a lot of stuff to transport from high sec and the entrances/exits will only last a maximum of 24 hours so it'd be pointless to wait :(

It was said earlier the wormholes in and out often move, but that keeps the space inside 'intact' I guess. So the wormhole is still claimed. So how often does empty/new wormhole space pop up?

Tbh I don't think CCP have actually shed any light on it though don't take my word for it - I think there's a (large) set amount of wormhole 'spaces', but because wormholes are random there may be some that people have never even ventured into yet.

In my case, I went through a wormhole into wpace that was occupied, through a wormhole to more occupied wspace, through a wormhole into completely unoccupied wspace..

All sounds more confusing than it actually is. Whether or not CCP actively add more 'empty' wspace is a mystery to me.

So last night I had a miniQuest.

The quest to get T1 projectile weapons:

I got into KarmaFleet (as you know) and they sent me a Slasher full rigged out... Except they used T2 mods/weapons. I was then asked to FC for a random little fly around... I didn't have the heart to tell them that I couldn't bring my guns online. So I remained docked and said that I couldn't do it until I changed up my fitting. It took me around 2 hours of hiding in the Corp base to eventually find someone who had some little T1s laying around. After that, it was too late to venture out into Null Sec and die.

Tonight however, watch out! I plan on taking some folks and floating around looking for things to accept my bullets upon their spaceboat. >:D

Rofl, make the new guy FC. Baptism by fire or what? xD

"Erm, Hi guys... I'm Liam. SHOOT ANYTHING THAT MOV.... why are you shooting me? Who are our allies? AAAAH I'VE HIT A ROCK. How do I reload?"

or to follow Top Gun's RoE

"Only fire after being fired upon"

I'd be a great leader "WARP IN... (Sir we have hostiles camping the gate) RETREAT! SAVE YOURSELVES!!!! EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF. Web someone so they feast off of his corpse whilst I escape"

It's not too bad, last time I played I was a trainee FC for EVE University and led a few into null sec.

Yeah but you probably knew how to reload, and how to fly a ship, and how not to die instantly. It's quite the morale boost when your leader charges heroically into battle only to die instantly.

You'd be surprised what a large blob of newbies can do with a rookie in charge. Although it was mostly formations and manoeuvres to get people used to alignment, warp and combat as a group. :)

"Alright guys, they have bigger ships, bigger guns, and bigger fleets. But they've spent more cash than us and we're expendable. Now get your asses in there and all shoot their fleet commander."

Or as eve uni became famous for "Apply ewar to everything! if they can't lock us or hit us then we'll win"
