LiamHaith Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Ships now have mastery levels attached to their info page. It will tell you what skills to train for that particular ship so that you are "skilled well" for it. I thought that was just a Prestige kinda thing. Maybe it made your ship shinier... Also, Arreks - you're clearly mistaken. My Drake is NEVER leaving the station. That thing cost me an arm and a leg and I love it. I love it too much to watch it go up in smoke
sonofsanta Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 4 Salvagers and 4 Tractor beams for less flying around. You've got around 2 hours before the wrecks despawn, the actual instance they were in is removed when the mission is handed in but the wrecks stay in space till they despawn. That was it. Too long since I've flown! Being subscribed to this thread is not helping my conviction that I Don't Have Time and There's So Many Other Games Still. A million ISK is change in EVE terms. If you've not got that, you've got problems, especially if you had enough to buy a Navy Issue ship I never once bought one in what, three or more years of flying, cos you should never fly anything you can't afford to lose. And if you're so afraid to use it it never leaves the station, what's the point in having it FRAPS a clip of it spinning in station and save that for when you come over all misty-eyed, and reinvest the money in stuff that'll be useful and let you have more fun, I reckon.

Oh I can afford whatever I want right now, I'm on like 1.4b ISK. But I hate spending. I almost cried when I had to spend 4mil on a BOOK. A BOOK. Paper, in space... 4 million... how?!

Paper, in space... 4 million... how?! You've gotta speculate to accumulate and spending a couple million on a salvage destroyer + fittings will make you back far more ISK than you ever spend on it, I promise. Missions only exist to create scrap metal, salvaging is the real game

LiamHaith Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) You've gotta speculate to accumulate and spending a couple million on a salvage destroyer + fittings will make you back far more ISK than you ever spend on it, I promise. Missions only exist to create scrap metal, salvaging is the real game The real game is mining and exploration! I went further than I've ever been yesterday and even followed a fellow EduMember around. You have no idea how excited I got when I realized that when you send your probes out you can move them manually... I spent like 3 hours just warping around probing places. I found a few wormholes (but didn't dare enter them) and a few Drone sites (which I almost died at and made 0 ISK from due to not knowing about salvaging). EDIT: As far as accumulating goes, I just flip on the market. It's too easy being able to see regional prices. X is 1k ea. here... but 1.5k ea. over there. Let's buy 10k of them. EDIT: I just realized I missed my 100th post celebration :c Huzzah! Edited June 3, 2015 by LiamHaith
Arreks Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Finally transported all my different POS structures and fuel etc to the right place, just waiting for the right time now. Time to trade PLEX! also, congrats! I'm not sure how many posts I have because 90% of them are spam. I'm tempted to start to be honest, I can get some pretty good prices for them. I've seen areas where I could amass over 50-100mil profit without breaking a sweat. If I wanted to travel the extra 10 minutes I'm fairly certain I could push it to 150mil. The only downside is finding something to take back with me. I don't like doing A->B A->B since it's not 100% time efficient. I prefer to move PLEX from A->B, then fetch something back from B->A for even more profit, before repeating. That way I'm constantly carrying cargo. EDIT: Playing the Markets is how I got Gold Capped on all 50 of my characters on WoW. I love doing it, it's more fun than actually playing the game just to have realistically - infinite money.
Garacesh Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 I don't have a million ISK ;_; I think I'm on about 400k lol. Only done tutorial missions and the start of SoE, plus had to buy bigger guns.

When you get online, I'll hook you up with some. Newbie to Newbie It'd be nice having someone to do the lower tier stuff with too
halbaradkenafin Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I'm sure a few of us would be willing to throw a few million your way to help you get started.
Garacesh Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 I'm sure you guys would, but I'm not going to be the typical MMO 'give me free pls' I won't turn it down, but I shan't ask either There's plenty of ways I can make my own cash, but a little boost wouldn't hurt.
LiamHaith Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 @Garacesh, consider it yours. I'll throw a little booster your way. Don't consider it a freebie, consider it a forward payment. (When I first started someone gave me 10 mil, and I'm a big believer in paying generosity forward)
Garacesh Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Thanks! And I'll be sure to do the same one day!
Arreks Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 When I first started someone gave me a frozen corpse of someone they'd killed, funny how things change over time.. But srsly I am going to start a corp tonight or tomorrow, 0% tax etc but as it'll be small there's always a big chance of a wardec (except my friend and I will be in a wormhole 90% of the time which lowers the chances).
LiamHaith Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 @Arreks, that sounds great but I might have to not join - since I fully intend of flying around null sec WD'ing people and running away just to annoy them. I imagine many a person would get annoyed at being declared war on because I was being a simpleton and fighting against bigger fish than myself

LiamHaith Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Sounds like you belong in BRAVE Corp Edit: Stoopid double-post bug. I fully intend to find the people who killed me last night, and screw with them. I'm currently working on getting the cloaking tech so I can run upto them invisible and gank them one by one. Victory will be mine, Victory is ALWAYS mine (60% of the time!)

I imagine many a person would get annoyed at being declared war on because I was being a simpleton and fighting against bigger fish than myself War dec's don't work that way. Requires the Corp CEO to declare war. Plus declaring war is expensive. "How much does a wardec cost? It costs 50 million isk, plus an additional cost for each member in the target corporation/alliance above 51. It will now start to increase with the 51st member and reach the ceiling of 500 million ISK at 2000 members. The war declaration fee must be in the Master Wallet of the corp wallet." Evelopedia I would recommend this as a great resource for finding stuff out about EVE. EDIT: Whoops, misread your post. We would be to small for them to bother declaring war on. I'm currently working on getting the cloaking tech so I can run upto them invisible and gank them one by one. Victory will be mine, Victory is ALWAYS mine (60% of the time!) As Garacesh said, you should join a big PVP alliance. Confident fresh meat like yourself is needed to fuel the cogs of war. UNITAS is a good BRAVE corp.
LiamHaith Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 EDIT: Whoops, misread your post. We would be to small for them to bother declaring war on. All is good then! > I feel like since I experienced PvP (albeit not really PvP, more like PvNoob who got 1shot) I'm going to spend a fair amount of time learning how to be good at it. I'm always a PvPer at heart, that and a merchant. @Arreks, can I not just be a Bloodthirsty Edu? :c Don't send me to the scary know-it-alls! I love you guys :c
Arreks Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 You'll be fine! the idea is that you'll be able to fleet up and get the hang of techniques, terminology etc. You can always leave once you get bored!
LiamHaith Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 You'll be fine! the idea is that you'll be able to fleet up and get the hang of techniques, terminology etc. You can always leave once you get bored! No, pls. :c Learn by dying! I've never piggybacked off a bigger group/player before. I don't intend to start now. I swear allegiance to EDU. For Queen and Geek!
LiamH Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Brave Newbies (although currently getting smacked around a bit) Pandemic Horde (the "elite" pvp alliance PL's feeder corp's ..newbie feeder corp. I used to be in PL, not sure about horde but expect to move a lot and not really get settled.) Karma Fleet (Imperium's newbie corp, we love our newbro's) Eve Uni (Newbie corp set out like a university, with classes you can take, learning fleet roams ect) -Insert proviblock alliance- (The place you got killed is a group of alliances that use a NRSI policy, so lots of small alliances working together, you most likely got killed by pirates that they will fight.) Give some of those a look, most big PVP alliances will require a limited amount of knowledge and skill points before they will accept you so getting in to a feeder corp will help lots. As for the drone sites, not sure on if its changed but all the isk there used to be salvage for minerals, salvaging isn't as profitable as it used to be. If you kill NPC ships they have "bounty's" on them that can add up along with the loot. Since you are using probes now, once you train up combat probes you can probe down mission runners and ninja salvage their loot if you are feeling evil Hoping the jackdaws aren't stupidly expensive and i might pick one up tonight.
