Hi all

The school have got some new iPads which need setting up. With the previous ipads i set them up using configurator and the meraki as the mdm. However I want to tie everything under one roof and use the mac i use to manage the imacs with to also manage the ipads with, so in theory use Profile Manager.

I have created an enrollment profile in profile manager and then imported it to apple configurator but when it tries to install i get error codes "4001" which means profile installation failed and error code "-1001" which means the request timed out.

Wi-Fi is the first profile that i install.

This never happens with Meraki's enrollment

Any ideas

Thanks

Can you ping the IP address of the server? Is it bypassing the proxy?

If you can't get to the enrol page, the profile won't be able to either, so get that working and I think you'll be well away.

Can ping the server and can now access my devices and enroll.

Still will not work on configurator though.

i had this problem. Does the wifi definitely connect? Have you got proxy details in the wifi profile? Also i made sure that i pushed the wifi profile first and then ticked the next profile to install i didnt do them both together when i was first pushing the wifi. The other thing i done was after the wifi profile had installed i would then make sure i was at the home screen and then tick the next profile obviously leaving the wifi profile ticked to. Do you also have a reverse look up? Edited by Ryno

usually see 4001 when the ipad hasnt been invited/enrolled try re adding your profiles in configurator and then enroll as normal in profile manager we did it by inporting profiles from profile manger into configurator?

I have created an enrollment profile down the left hand side of profile manager then i download it and import it into configurator. It just sits there in apple configurator and does nothing.

what firewall are you using there are various ports needed to run profile manager to get everything talking? we had to request them opening then like magic it all worked?

I'm not sure if this will help, but I've found that I can't supervise a device in Apple Configurator and install the profile manager enrollment profile. Instead I need to supervise it, power off the iPad (hold the power button down until the power off appears, then swipe), before powering on and installing the profile, where upon it works.

That did not work unfortunately.

How do i grab the logs from xcode?

Have you chosen the Device within Devices menu? Not got Xcode in front of me at the moment but can double check exact steps if you don't figure.

Make sure you are using Yosemite and the latest Apple Configurator app.

I used to have issue installing IOS8 and installing profiles but since the updates it's all good.

Yes both are up to date

I have now tried installing the profile by going to /mydevices but that does not work either. I have spoke to RM and they have unblocked all the ports which profile manager needs to work.
