In the 4 long term jobs I've had - I was on the close down team in two of them (so everyone had already gone by the time I did) and one where I was in hospital - so not a great haul :-(

First job - £40 itunes voucher

Second job - They gave me the laptop bag that I'd been using for 12 months (didn't even have my own laptop, the company MD even said in his leaving speech that there wasn't really a leaving present as such).

Third job - Lego Campervan :-)

Haven't left a job yet (this is my first proper 'career' job) so I've got nada.. But I did get beer once for solving a teacher's pickle rather quickly. That was nice.

We did have our NM leave recently though.. Fairly certain he was hoping to just sneak out and not make a fuss (which, to be fair, can't blame him, that's probably how I'd try and do it, too). We were having none of that though ;) There was cake and speeches and pressies. I'd tried to find a reseller of the Repair bobblehead from fallout 3 but couldn't :( They were either A) From the US and extortionately priced+postage or B) Endurance.

Only leaving "gift" I was ever given was £5k when I quit a job I had in recruitment. It wasn't so much a gift but more of a "We will give you this money if you agree not to talk to anyone in the industry for at least 12 months". They where fairly scared I was going to take my client base with me and go and join a former manager they had fired who set up a competing business or that I was going to let people know why I had quit.

I had no interest in staying in the industry so was quite happy to take the money :)

Used to work in Switzerland and when I was leaving and moving back to the UK I was given a years ski pass...for a resort in Switzerland. I still got some use out of it so by no means a bad gift but I felt awful not being able to make the most of it since it wasn't cheap.

Another job I had was working in a huge power station so even IT staff had to wear hard hats and all that jazz. They gave me my hard hat which presumably was because it had my name plastered across it filled with little bottles of spirits and a company towel. Bit odd but doesn't sound awful except for the fact that people used to stay overnight at this place so there was a bar and gym/pool on site for staff which is clearly where they gathered these things from that morning.

First job, briefcase (my choice)

Second job, nothing (glad to leave)

Third job, nothing but was Ok as went back part time while being house husband.

Fourth job, hurridly collected £10 voucher and card

Fifth job, nothing (now that one hurt)

Sixth job, wine, amazon voucher (came in handy for new cycling jacket)

Its only when you list it out you realise how many places you worked!

I feel like I've missed out here, I just put my worst present down...

First job... Nothing, it was part time in a supermarket, I just walked out after they threatened me with a disciplinary for taking time off to go to university interviews.

Second job... Nothing, contract ended and I left - that was doing a epos refit for toys r us.

Third job... The umbrella. That was the end of a 12 month placement and I was expecting nothing, it was a pretty crap job.

Fourth job... Special discount card for the chain of shops I was working for, gave me 25% off for life - or at least until the chain folded!

Fifth job... Nothing, unless you count the 2 months wages redundancy settlement!

Sixth job... A load of branded merchandise and a meal out. I was quite sad to leave that job but it was time.

Previous job... A card, a meal out, and a £50 amazon voucher from the actual school, and from individuals, a yard of jaffa cakes and a 24 crate of craft beers.

I was really thankful anyway, but it was a bit of a kick to the teeth when I knew what was implied:

When my business manager left, I had to basically run around pushing staff for the collection fund. Some people were really mean about it too, saying they didn't care. I managed to push just over £100 which went in an amazon voucher, and this was after guilting several teachers and one of my family members who had met him and liked him insisting they can give. When I handed it in the office said it was very measley and mean of the staff because when teachers leave they tend to get jewellery and vouchers to nearly double that.

When I left I got considerably less than that in a voucher! Still very thankful and it came in handy, but it definitely showed which members of staff didn't care as they were probably the same ones who refused to give to his.

worked for my "friend" and didn't even get a good bye, he didn't turn into work on my last day so I locked up the office and dropped the keys in his letter box at home.

Got a set of really nice whisky glasses and a bottle of single malt from a school I once worked at so that made up for it.
