Not in education but we’ve just started using Passwordstate and can highly recommend it. We had some minor security concerns after pen testing it and they fixed them up within days. Their support has been very responsive with direct access to the developers when needed. It also hooks into our Duo 2FA natively.

We've been using TRAPS for about 3 years now and over that time I think its developed into a great product. In fact we probably won't renew our Sophos AV endpoint protection when that runs out and just use TRAPS. As part of our evaluation we tested both Sophos and TRAPS against the 25 newest Windows virues available via VirusTotal. Sophos stopped 20/25 whereas TRAPS stopped 25/25. We use some niche software and TRAPS has occasionally produced a false positive but its quick and easy to resolve such issues. Personally I'd recommend the product if the price is right.

The local admin password for each machine is stored in a new attribute field in the computer account in AD. The LAPS deployment guide explains how to secure this attribute so only users you define can read it.

I’d start by running the Da troubleshooting tool (google it) on the client when trying to connect. I’ve always found the output when run in debug mode normally points me in the direction of the problem.

I can only agree with this. I did a similar city and guilds course years ago (which I passed) and have found it really useful. It mainly helped when evaluating contractors and testing their knowledge.i knew what the answers should be but if they didn't know what they should they would be rejected. Knowing the theory is far more valuble than just when using it when calling yourself.

I'm the Network Manager mentioned above. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Qatar. As with any job there are good employers and some bad, if anyone does go for this job and has any questions about the school or life in Qatar I'm more than happy to answer any questions. I still know a few folks out there including a SIMS manager for a group of schools so should be able to get good up to date info for you and/or put you in touch.

My current commute is just under a mile and in summer I always use the car... I do have a good excuse though. Yesterday at 6:45am when I left home it was 35C, by the time I came home at 3pm it was 49C. Not pleasant or sensible to be walking around in those temps! Way back I used to have a 3 bus commute that took between 1:45 and 2 hours each way. Eventually started biking it which was quicker! Just not pleasant in bad weather.

Have you thought about using something like the Magic Bus? They run all over the country but also show you many different places on route. Its a fair few years since I used them but they were great. They are aimed at backpackers and will pick up and drop off from various accomadation in each town. We ended up travelling with a great bunch of people, my mate ended up marrying a girl he met on the bus! Whatever you end up doing I'm sure you'll have a great time, its a fantastic country.

We have: Network Manager (Me) 2x Senior Technicians 3x Technicians The two Senior Techs look after the other technicians and run the helpdesk etc. They both then have other responsibilities such as Switch programming, server maintainance etc.

I would speak to Microsoft directly as they will be able to put you in touch with a reseller that can deal with Iraq. Be aware that at the moment EES licencing doesn't exist in the Middle East like it does in the UK. We're still on the old Schools Agreement deal if thats what your thinking of using i.e. number of computers. Hope that helps.

Sounds great... I did the Monopoly board crawl a few years ago, 26 stops in total. Really good fun. There were loads of groups doing it, many in fancy dress too. Had to stick to a fairly tight schedule to fit it all in though.

In my old job had a 40 min commute, now its 5 mins, but only because the speed limit is 25 Kph! Don't walk as currently its in the mid 30s at 6:30am!

jimmy_2k - the fella that got the job is currently on a plane thats due to land here in a couple of hours! I agree I don't think he will regret the decision to come out here, I am biased as I made the same decision and am loving it. I came back to the UK in the beginning of the summer and while I had a good time everything did seem to be doom and gloom. Don't know when or if I'll ever return to the UK...
