Hi All,

I was just wondering what you guys use as an "e-booking" system.

We'd like to be able to allow staff to book laptop trolleys, iPad cases, IRIS kits etc themselves.

We've tried a few things;

LRC staff using pen & paper (tedious, but did work.. somewhat!)

simplybook.me (looks great, performance wise is sluggish and due to limitations aren't able to make certain changes to make it viable for us)

An open source booking system, which I honestly can't remember the name of...

Yours hopefully!

Room booking system from school cloud systems

Room Booking System - Online Room Booking Software

We had a paper based system for booking various rooms and resources. The fact its web based and hosted by them mean staff can access anytime, anywhere. Even the most negative member of staff when i first introduced it, now says it makes bookings easier.

+1 for this. We introduced it several years ago and we have all bookable resources on it, and it works very well indeed. If only it could actually force staff to return the stuff on time!

Yep we use this too for all resources too, even the schools mini buses. Not yet implemented SSO or SIMS integration but every school who I know also use this system rate it very highly

Anyone found a solution for booking certain number of laptops from trolleys?

We have trolleys with 30 laptops in each. We want to be able to make reservations for 1-29 laptops also - not just the whole trolley. Some teacher might need 15, someone else only 5 and so on. The system should also show how many laptops are available at the moment in a specific trolley.

I made specs for the solution with user stories and all - and have talked to a local developer about it as a tailored solution for our intranet (Drupal) but it would of course become quite costly. It seems strange that although searching the web intensly (?) I can´t find a solution for this, none of the Resource Booking systems I have found can do anything else than whole resources, no possibility to add information like "Number of laptops: 30" and then being able show how many are available at the moment after reservations start to drop in, not allowing more reservations than laptops available and so on.

Wish I could build it myself ;-)

(yes it can easily be done in Excel but that´s not what I want.)

I'm looking for something similar, we manage the booking for a hundred Chromebooks and bookings range from one device to 30 for a whole class. Haven't found anything yet that fits the bill.

For an interim 'solution' we have a Google form that automatically creates calendar entries. Staff can see the calendar and guage availability but I still have to check the bookings and contact staff when they overbook.

Bumping an old post.

I'm looking for a new booking system for about 8-10 items. Must have Google SSO and email notifications for bookings. Not interested in MIS link.

Room Booking System looks to be the winner, but before I trial / order I wanted to check if there were any other suggestions.

How about just using the resource booking in Google Workspace calendars? This is what we do now. Nice and simple to manage, its all built into their normal calendars.

I have been using that, very long boring story, it's not quite cutting the mustard, apparently...

I had that running at my last place. It's an option, but I then need to look at getting Google > AD sync running to make sure all accounts are up to date. I'm concerned that might cause more hassle than it's worth on the last aging server.
