Just echoing what others have said. Ventoy is perfect for a larger USB stick, I keep Windows 10 ISOs, Windows 11 ISOs, Server ISOs, MDT LiteTouch ISO, Ubuntu etc all in one place - all bootable directly. That in combination with Snappy Driver Installer. Another one that's always handy to have with you just incase For creating a dedicated Windows 10/11 USB; you can't beat Rufus. It even has the options to strip the silly install checks for you, which is a nice touch.

Just a quick update - I've made a slight amendment to the startup script: MsiExec.exe -x {731F6BAA-A986-45A4-8936-7C3AAAAA760B} /quiet cd /D "%~dp0" PowerShell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Bypass "\\XXXX\Scripts\RemoveTeamsPersonal.ps1" teamsbootstrapper.exe -p -o "\\XXXX\Software\MSTeams-x64.msix" The Powershell script that's called does the following (courtesy of https://poweronplatforms.com/remove-personal-teams-from-windows-11/): This seems to take a few seconds to run after they've logged in - but it mops up everything and leaves them with the New Teams and that's it! Hey all, Just a quick update, I've tried on a few different machines with the following as a startup script (BAT): MsiExec.exe -x {731F6BAA-A986-45A4-8936-7C3AAAAA760B} /quiet cd /D "%~dp0" teamsbootstrapper.exe -p -o "\\XXXX\Software$\MSTeams-x64.msix" Which has worked a treat so far - it's removed the Machine Wide installer (albeit in front of my eyes, as I wondered why it hadn't worked then I watched it disappear from the Start Menu a few seconds later!), and installed the New Teams - great! One FINAL query - this leaves me with the following: Is there any reliable way of removing the personal version of Teams via batch script? Or is that not advisable as it's baked into the OS so to speak? Again - I can't thank you all enough! Kyle

Ok, so I'll trigger the removal of the old version via the existing GPO to begin with. As for the deployment/running of the bootstrapper & msix, would this work if I added it to a startup script (within a GPO)? We don't use Senso or anything, so we're as 'Vanilla' as possible for rollouts Thank you so much again for all of your quick responses! Thanks, Kyle

Hi All. We've deployed the Microsoft Teams client for a long time now as we would any other normal piece of software, via an MSI with GPO. We've never had any issues with this - it's just worked. The only caveat seems to be multiple versions of Teams appear in the Start Menu which often causes confusion - a Personal one (part of the OS?) and the Work / School one which we deploy. We're now starting to see the notifications within the application(s) stating that the 'New Teams' needs to be installed and that the existing client will stop working soon. After having a look at the Microsoft New Teams downloads page - they only seem to be providing an MSIX file now, which obviously we can't deploy via the traditional means. Their guidance suggests manually installing (not viable! 500+ devices), or rolling out using InTune, Config Manager, etc which we don't have (budget is LIMITED to say the least!). Whilst experimenting with some manual installs, a few of these installations failed as they sometimes required this pre-requisite: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2249905&clcid=0x809&culture=en-gb&country=gb I've done a bit of Googling but I'm not seeing much on doing this in the 'retro' way! I did come across a YouTube video of someone converting the MSIX to MSI, but when I tried this - it never seemed to ever install... What I'd like to do is create some kind of GPO that removes / cleans up all the older versions and redundant versions of Teams and roll out the New client - making things as simple as possible for everyone. Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this as I'm seeing so many different ways of achieving this (mostly with mixed success)... We've got 17 iMacs running Mac OS (some old version, never even used - half of them don't even boot to the OS?) and Windows 7 via Boot Camp (set as the default boot option, working great). These were all done manually on an individual basis (as my knowledge of Mac / deploying Macs at the time was extremely limited, and being pushed for time this was the quickest way to get them running). I'm looking to bring them all in line with the rest of the building by having them all on Win 10 and Mac OS Mojave. The Mac side will unlikely be used but it would be nice if it was domain joined at the very least so it's somewhat 'usable'. How would you guys suggest I go about deploying them the quickest & easiest way possible? (preferably without any additional costs / paid software - budget is practically non-existent) I've used CloneZilla/Norton Ghost for quick & dirty deployments in the past (going back years!), but primarily we use WDS / MDT for everything nowadays. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Kyle

Hi All, We currently use ASM / Mosyle across multiple sites for app deployment / iPad management; and so far everything's been great. However, we've been asked to roll out an 'In App Purchase' upgrade for the 'Pic Collage' app (to remove the watermark). Has anyone had any success or aware of any way you can do this via Mosyle? I've Googled but most threads I find reach a dead end. Why they couldn't just make a 'Pro' version of the app with the watermarks removed etc like everyone else I don't know! Hi All, I was just wondering if anyone out there has had much success in deploying SMART Notebook 11.4 with FUNCTIONAL DRIVERS on Windows 10 (Build 1703) via Group Policy? The school we are looking at mainly has 560 series SMART boards. I have the MSI / transform file all created up as per the instructions - and I'm able to deploy the Notebook software - however I noticed that the driver is automatically disabled upon completion, and Windows doesn't seem to like it. I then installed the latest standalone drivers which appeared to sort it (12.6 with Ink 4.1), however I'm not seeing any deployment / MSI for these drivers (so that I can deploy via GP). I was just wondering, how do you guys do it? NOTE: I know the boards are ancient, but as the school is on a very limited (practically non existant) budget since their handover to us - I wanted to try and extend the life of any existing kit for as long as I possibly can Thanks all, Kyle

As the S3 console is run by the LA, we don't have access to it - all we've been given is the standalone files that you can generate in the S3 console itself. Looks like it'll be a manual install! Thanks guys

Hey guys. Our school canteen has a lovely 4x 55" Samsung LED panel array (set to act as one big screen) which at the moment is powered by a naff Media Player box with a few music videos thrown on it. I was just wondering if anyone has ever setup a 'video jukebox' of sorts. Here's my (ambitious admittedly!) wishlist: - Video playback of MP4/MKV/MOV etc - Request the next video/song via a URL (students could then access this via Student WiFi - they'd love that!) - Play randomly if no requests are taken - Ideally could run off of a Raspberry Pi (we have plenty of these) as it's going to be locked in a secure cupboard and will likely get hot! - Capable of accessing either network shares or allowing a shared directory so that content can be updated regularly I've had a Google about but really not seeing anything that does all of the above... worst case we'll stick with what we've got (or just go with something like Plex/Kodi on an infinite shuffle?). Any ideas / suggestions will be greatly appreciated Thanks! Kyle

Hi guys, Cracked the Start Menu customisation deployment; so all happy in that dept - however when new users login to Win 10 Edu, the taskbar is completely empty. Is there a way of customising this? By default in 10 Pro you'd see at least MS Edge & Explorer.. but all we see on the Edu version is the Task View button. Just wondering if anyone else has come across this or had the same issue; most staff/students panic when they can't see blatantly obvious icons at the bottom of their screens Thanks in advance! Kyle

I've got our KMS key and installed it on our KMS host (after another phone call to MS, had to do the same for W10); although it doesn't appear to allow any clients to activate via it... Keeps erroring with 0xC004F074 & 0xC004F042 here. She did say on the phone that they've had a LOT of problems with the Office 2016 activations / rollout so far and would expect me to encounter issues!

Hey guys I recently upgraded our (perfectly working) MDT 2013 install to Update 1 (the newer build that was released just after the initial release) - and as such now have a few issues. Hopefully someone can help me shed some light on them! I've attempted to create an image as we always have (we deploy the vanilla version of the OS via MDT to the laptop - then install required drivers/software etc, tweak a regkey (PersistAllDeviceInstalls=1) and then SysPrep, shutdown. We then boot into MDT via PXE; and use the 'Capture an Image' - task sequence. Typically this would then go through great, restart the machine and capture the install WIM to the \Captures folder. However, what happens is that the system begins the task sequence (doesn't get to the capture WIM part) and then restarts and boots into the local disk? I have to restart the machine and then boot back into MDT via PXE manually; then it resumes the task sequence and begins capturing (however it was never like this before). So I continued onward and attempted to deploy the aforementioned capture (after adding our usual tweaks to the task sequence - setting screen res, forcing activation of software via scripts etc) - but the similar issue occurs with this. The system begins to deploy the OS; however when it reaches the restart phase of the task sequence it boots into the OS on the local disk - then doesn't do anything (doesn't even pop up with the Task Sequence). Has anyone else had a similar scenario or have any ideas why this would be? At the moment the server is effectively useless.. I planned to get a Windows 10 image (with all drivers/software etc) for our staff laptops / one of our IT suites by the end of the week but it's looking less and less likely as times gone on Thanks in advance all! Sorry for bringing up an old-ish thread! We currently have a 2008R2 server using a 2012 R2 key which allows us to activate our Win 8.x, Win 7 etc clients with no problems at all. The Office 2013 KMS key / host is also installed on the same machine. Am I right in thinking if I ring up MS to get this key added on to our account (assuming we're in the same boat as it's not there for us either); that we replace the existing 2012 R2 key with the 2012 R2 Key for Windows 10 and it should allow us to activate our Win 10 clients? Just wanted to be 100% before replacing any keys Thanks guys!

Hi all, From what I've been reading this software is an absolute nightmare in edu to get running - but I feel like we're very nearly there! I've rolled out the AXE release to a few computers; and all appears to install fine - so many thanks for that! However, as we specify a proxy - this is causing issues for the emulator to 'connect'. Naturally; just to confirm this - I untick the proxy (on an admin user, obviously students can't do that) and then try connecting to the emulator via the site and it will work (but hang when it tries to use the internet ofc). So I thought by adding an exception in the proxy details for 127.0.0.1; localhost etc that it would leave it out from being filtered... however it still doesn't work. Has anyone else had this particular issue? If so how did you overcome it? Yours hopefully! Kyle

Hi All, Just wanted to run a scenario by you all and find out how some of you have gone about doing it! We currently have a 2008 R2 VM with IIS 7 / mySQL running a large amount of websites; and we'd like to shift them over to a new 2012 R2 server running IIS 8.5 / mySQL. I've had a quick look around looking at Web Deploy etc - but mostly the guides are based on II6 to 7, not sure if the same would apply in our scenario. Similarly; could we theoretically just export the SQL databases from the old server as backups and restore into a new server and everything *should* work? Hopefully someone else has performed a similar migration and could help shine some light on it! Thanks in advance Kyle

Typically the PC this was running on is on it's last legs - so we're about to move over to a new one and ideally need the original installer for the older version! Hopefully when our budgets have been sorted out for the next financial year; we'll renew it and get the hosted option

Hi All, I was just wondering what you guys use as an "e-booking" system. We'd like to be able to allow staff to book laptop trolleys, iPad cases, IRIS kits etc themselves. We've tried a few things; LRC staff using pen & paper (tedious, but did work.. somewhat!) simplybook.me (looks great, performance wise is sluggish and due to limitations aren't able to make certain changes to make it viable for us) An open source booking system, which I honestly can't remember the name of...
