Got to become a limited company and need help choosing a company name.

Our LA have told all the schools they can't use self employed individual in the schools anymore. Basically from April I will need to be a limited company.

 

One of the first things I need to do is pick a name for the limited company that has not already been registered.

 

I am struggling to come up with something creative and would appreciate your help in choosing a name.

 

I could possible use Edutech4schools if noting else pops up.

I actually quite like Edutech4Schools; I actually thought it was the name of a company initially.

EduTech4Schools is decent and has a nice ring to it I think

 

Really its up to you though as its your company, though theres plenty of Movie companies you could try and register too, if you fancied being a Director of Stark Industries/Weyland-Yutani/Tyrell/Umbrella/Starfleet

 

Search fictional movie companies for that one.

You can always trade as with a limited company, don't be too disheartened if all the good names are taken

My husband had to do this. He just went for the very biring Initials Surname Consulting Ltd.... Try not to make it too specific to schools and IT in case you want to use the business to do something a little outside that specific scope in the future.

Not necessarily. There are plenty of educational establishments which aren't schools. I work in one

I did think it was a company name, but I personally have a petty hatred for anything using 4 instead of 'for'. If I ever have an accident, InjuryLawyers4U can right off

 

Personally I think something a bit shorter would have more of a professional ring to it.. Like keeping it at EduTech. "Who does your IT Support?" "EduTech4Schools" vs "Who does your IT Support?" "EduTech".. Just sounds more professional to me. But that's just me.

Drop the '4' for 'for', To me it looks more professional.

Very surprising! You'd have thought somebody would have been squatting such a generic name like that. Maybe marketing is too focussed on establishing a brand now, making generic names not worth so much?

Sounds good but using Edu and Schools may limit you later if you do expand on things and go to cover business. Use your initials, i.e. JS Consulting or JS Systems for example allow you to cover anything without been tied down to an area.

Is this because of the DBS change? I might be talking absolute bubbles here but if self employed techies have to go limited, could someone on Edugeek form a ltd company and use it as our employer, so to speak?

I was told having a company name the same as another company is not an issue, only becomes an issue if they are local to you. If there is computers4u in Newcastle and you setup in Devon with the same name that is fine. Speak to your local bank who you plan to bank with for your business and they can advise you.

Seems a very strange policy and would like to see what has made it happen there must be loads of self employed coaches and dance teachers etc..... that are not limited companies.
