Testing it out with the raw msi... No MST, no scripting. [Mostly because no Orca and I can't think of how to do an OS architecture check without it taking forever.]

it actually works if i make the same alterations i did to 7 and installs but unless a site is in an allowed list (or at least when using javatester.org you just get a java says no message so i need to work out how to drop security from high to allow things to work

 

About 1/2 way down my "pending jobs" list is "Java Deployment: Whitelist". Luckily it's only a few Admin machines that I seem to need to tweak post install.

This is what I've been using - seems to work and doesn't involve messing about with the MSI:

Afternoon @LeMarchand, I've been testing a J8 silent install with those switches, but cannot get the auto update unticked in CP. Am I doing something wrong?

Just grabbed the free version of "Advanced Installer" to make some mst files... Changed reboot to suppressed and autoupdate to 0.

 

Lets see if this works... [Worked fine raw.]

Hi all,

 

After a bit of playing around I managed to write the following script to deploy Java via GPO as a start-up script. I have tested this and this works without an issue thought i would share in case anyone else is having the same problems as I had.

 

Get latest EXE from Oracle site for JRE and change java source directory, Install directories and file name below. Server location obviously is where you have the source files placed. You can remove the @echo OFF at beginning if you prefer as i did for testing purposes.

You can also add the removal of old java to the beginning of the script if required by getting the GUID and adding the following:

msiexec /x {GUID OF OLD JAVA TO REMOVE}

Just completed and tested in 5 mins deployed perfectly with all the auto-updates suppressed.

 

Extracted the msi wrote a quick ini with all the switches and imported into RMMC as package, deployed to test machine et voila!

 

Quickest one yet

Bossman I started testing a deployment for Java 8 31 this week. I never had issues with Java 6 or 7, but I am with java 8. Could you share what you did?
