I've been testing the DisableAntiSpyware regedit with a few low powered machines we have, and it does seem to make a big difference. My question is, is there any notible negative security impact, assuming Sophos EP is running as is should, by doing this? I'm keen to widen the test pool, but just wanted to check for opposite opinions first.

We use ScreenBeam for Wireless Display. 960s in the classrooms and 1000 Edu for larger areas (sports halls, conference rooms etc). We used the 1000 at BETT last week when we delivered our Live Classroom for LGFL, worked flawlessly, even at BETT. Interestingly, I was told that Microsoft was using them also on their stand... We have two projectors (left and right), in shock absorbing cages and wall mounted screens. Each projector has a ScreenBeam wireless Display, and a HD-T connection back to a HDMI matrix, in a cabinet in the store cupboard. The HDMI Matrix controls the third ScreenBeam (to run both screens together) or extra connections for HD-T from the back of the hall. The AV cabinet also has the Amp and zone mixer which feeds the high level speakers, with wall mounted zone controllers for each side. The setup allows two classes to be in the hall, or one teacher to run both screens by changing the input on the projectors. The sound follows the Projector source. When we run performances, we run a desk mixer with Mics, Instruments etc into the Zone Mixer Via a multicore wall box, and hardwire the screens through the HDMI Matrix via extra HD-T connections in the same box (multicore and cat6 have Ben run "front" to "back" over the rafters). Gives us simplicity for the teachers and flexibility for Performances. The screens have been robust, although the projectors do need realigning every year or so.

Has anyone managed to get RD apps working using the AppProxy? I have it working great with all our internal web sites etc, but I can't seem to get RD Apps working via Work Resources eg SIMs etc.

No firewall config required. There is an app proxy client on your internal network that talks to azure, therefore all communications start from inside, so you don't need to configure port forwarding. You point your DNS to the azure app proxy so no public traffic directly traverses your firewall.

This may be unpopular, but I can't agree with this. If you're going to do a 1:1 device scheme, you cannot start with the technology. You can't say Chromebooks or iPads are better because they are easier to manage. What benefit are you (or rather SLT) trying to add to the classroom, how will the device make learning better or easier for the pupils. This needs to start from a curriculum focused point, not a technology one. The right device is the one that adds the most to the pupils learning, and this is determined by how it will be used in the classroom, for what purpose, how often, how will it fit into the curriculum and how will the curriculum be written around it. The right device is the device that will be used, that fills a need, and makes learning better.

A side question if I may. How do you have the pupils enrol MFA? Do you leave them to it, or use IT classes to walk them through it? We limit Staff enrolment to a trusted device on a trusted network with CA. So having pupils enrol at home with parents etc would open up a big security risk in the process.

The 100 free licences are always free however... So if you need 120, you'd only pay for 20. We use it for around 350 staff laptops and servers etc and pay for 250, with an Education discount. You can prove the concept with the free licences, then go to the purse holder afterwards... The recent updates make it an invaluable tool for us.

I've just looked up the technical bulletin LCC posted out to us... "Only Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (Service Pack 3 – version 13.0.6300.2) and Microsoft SQL Server 2019 (RTM-CU19 – version 15.0.4223.1) will be supported by ESS after the Summer 2024 SIMS upgrade." As you're 2016 SP2, this may be the problem, it may not be the direct cause, but worth looking in to...

What version of SQL are you running. I was advised that there would be an issue if I wasn't on at least (I think 2016 SP2). Support are upgrading the SQL server before I run the update next week. I wonder if this is the issue they were referring to...

The Sway issues seem to have returned. Anyone else having issues over the last couple of days? MS Seem resolute in the fact its "Healthy"

Thanks for the responses so far, both public and private. I do agree completely that they need, at the very least, someone to bat for them on the inside and to steer the ship as it were. It was the first thing I said in the first meeting with them. The schools are being brought onboard over the next year and due to their small sizes, don't have the money to front the salary at present. A catch 22, this is where we're looking for someone to provide the technical skills, possibly with the steering from us for the short term, until they can fill the position themselves, then work with the IT services for the ongoing project work and infrastructure maintenance etc. We can provide the advice, we just don't have the resource to actually do the work needed. Hi Guys/Gals, We've been asked to help a fledgling trust get on their feet. We've had dealings with a couple of the school sin the trust under the Edtech Demonstrator program the Gov ran over Covid. Now they've started a small trust consisting of Primaries and special schools (less than 1500 pupils in total across 5 schools). We've started them in hopefully the right direction and given them food for thought in how they want to manage the trust from an IT perspective. But, and this is the point of the post, they don't have any technical expertise in any of the schools and currently buy in IT Support individually either from the local council or one-man-bands etc. I was wondering if any of you guys work with (or are ) an IT Service Provider who works in the North West (Blackpool area) what I could recommend to them. As its a new trust, they'll need someone to bring the 5 schools together and modernise their infrastructure etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You should be able to do this in the SDS profile Salamander use to create the teams in the first place. There is a clean-up procedure, which in a nutshell accepts a CSV of teams IDs (which you can get from a report in SDS too) and will the Expire and archive the teams you specify. This then inturn makes them read-only, and moves them to the Archived section for the end user in the Teams client.

I haven't tried it with Intune and devices, but it works with Teams Groups. But they don't validate or show the members in the parent group. So make sure you test it first...

Yes and no. It downloads a token the first time the user logs in to the machine and activates office. This token then renewed every so often (I think it's 30 days). So yes, they do, but not all the time.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, @Rob_D what do (did) you use for the biometric password reset? Sounds like a great implementation. I had a thought of maybe somehow integrating it into our catering system (no idea how I would) as we have pre-order screens which use fingerprints to log in already.
